Oregon is considering giving its vast homeless and low-income population $1,000 in no-strings-attached cash.
The bill was proposed last month by woke State Senator Wlnsvey Campos - who was among those calling to abolish the police in the summer of 2020 when the city of Portland was besieged by protesters - and Rep. Khanh Pham.

They could just wire the money to the drug cartels and cut out the middle men.

We keep hearing more about these so-called Universal basic income plans.
What I never understand or is never stated, is this Universal basic income over and above , and on top of, whatever other Public Assistance programs these people are getting benefits from?
This insane scheme will totally destroy the country.
The money will come from the productive members of society and go to the lazy bums. The lazy bums will never learn a skill, and will demand more. Eventually the productive people will realize that it is futile to actually work.
What then? out of control inflation. Total economic disaster.
Because the Corporations figure they'll make a killing from it. That's why.
Whatever you subsidize you get more of.................It’s a law................
People I went to school with live in Portland. Liberals, all. Some are probably paying about $1K in property taxes. This makes me laugh.
This is like committing “peaceful, no strings attached” genocide against them because they’ll have plenty of money for drugs and alcohol. I knew a Native Am. guy who got 77Gs “back pay” for Agent Orange Exposure. He drank himself to death in less than a year.

What makes them think that people with homes won’t show up and ask for money too?

Know a guy who’s sister-in-law is a jacked up methhead from Portland. He told me that suet gets something like $500-750/month from Oregon. Because she’s homeless…

No, you admitted you are only getting $1,000 per YEAR. The homeless would be getting 12x that amount.

Your point is good though. We are chumps in so many ways - reparations, “universal basic income,” school loans.
The money doesn’t exist and never will. These proposals are just a way to rile people up, create resentment (for both givers and takers), and keep the chaos going.
