What is the nation's greatest public health threat? Axios, an online political publication, commissioned a survey by Ipsos asking this and other health questions. The opioid crisis (26%) and obesity (21%) took first and second place overall. That should be no surprise, for they are dire problems, directly or indirectly responsible for much suffering and hundreds of thousands of deaths annually. Opioids in particular, despite being smaller than the others, are alarming for their sudden onset.
What is astounding, however, is what is evident when breaking down the survey answers based on political affiliation. It is Republicans alone who make opioids and obesity the top two concerns. Democrats have entirely different priorities than the average respondent.
Among Republicans, the greatest threat to public health is "opioids/fentanyl" (37%), followed by obesity (25%) and cancer (17%). Those are all reasonable answers that reflect serious health problems.
A plurality of Democrats, on the other hand, lists "gun or firearm access" (35%) as the No. 1 threat to public health.

And gee, if you were to take out black on black violent crime, you would have rates closer to that of Switzerland and Japan.
Anyone else think part of the impetus behind the WHO treaty-not-a-treaty is to use “guns are a pandemic” as a fig leaf?
Obama started that “guns as public health problem” nonsense when he ordered federal agencies to be “creative” and think “outside the box” to get around Congress in pushing his anti-2A agenda. This is what HHS and USPHS came up with.
Look... I am pro 2nd amendment.
At a certain point we have to step back and admit there is a problem.
Sometimes 2 mass shootings a day.
Its unfortunate if someone elses kid get killed.
Its a tragedy if YOUR kid gets killed.
I fully admit I dont have all the answers.
People are America’s #1 Health Problem. Especially all of the freeloaders coming into the country illegally. No wonder the cost of healthcare in the United States has skyrocketed. The only people who go south of the border for “healthcare” are those dizzy, millennium Snowflake broads who have surgery to turn their butt cheeks into a team of Goodyear blimps.
Other than Alec Baldwin’s gun, how many guns have ever just pulled their trigger alone?????
Someone has to PULL THE TRIGGER, and therein lies the problem.
Take the incident last week where the 6’6” 270 lb student beat up the paraprofessional and put her in the hospital for taking away his Nintendo Switch. Suppose he had a gun, do you think he still would’ve beat her up, or would he have taken out the gun and shot her?
Sure, he has some behavioral problems- it starts between the ears, and that is intent, the DESIRE to do someone harm, for whatever reason.
Add out of control anger issues, or whatever. A gun isn’t the heart of the issue.
What’s between the ears IS…
Seen through that lens, everything lines up just ducky. It’s still an Obama-led administration. Nothing has changed other than the names and faces.

AND AMERICAN CITIZENS NEED TO WAKE UP AND USE IT!
Well, this kid belongs in jail for the next 50 years or so. "Gun violence" gets reduced very quickly when violent offenders are in prison for the rest of their lives.
But what will most likely happen is that he might get five years sentence and be released on parole after two years. If so, he will eventually kill somebody else, quite possibly with a gun. Democrats will blame the gun.
Almost all shootings have perpetrators with long histories of violent criminal actions, often beginning in their early teens. They are easily identified. The solution to the problem is to put them in prison and keep them there. It is expensive. And worth the expense.
I wonder about the “opioid crisis”. In past, drugs like heroin and amphetamines (speed), tended to be cyclic, and their abuse strongly dropped after public health campaigns.
However, Fentanyl and its analogues seem to have peculiar ‘staying power’. This leads me to suspect that there are a LOT of illegal drug “blends” distributed as something other than Fentanyl; as well as true counterfeits that are killing people.
The motive for the Left to have the Federal government control all health care was the realization that virtually any behavior they wished to control could be crafted as a “health problem”.
2A BUMP.

Speaking of public health, the latest data of 2020 from the federal NTSB shows tragically shows that 11,654 people DIED as a result of drunk driving. We could unequivocally and completely end this carnage if we revoked everybody’s driver’s license and outlawed all private vehicles. It would stop tomorrow. Who’s with me!
Yeah, it’s like that.
Agree...but that doesnt answer the point.
I hope you agree theres a problem.
How do these young men Get hold of AR-15’s ?
How do young Black kids have an endless supply of handguns ?
By the time they break the law, innocent persons -usually more- have died.
Oh, I agree...There is definitely a problem...A huge part of the problem is “culture”...Also, parental responsibility...
