China considers sending Russia artillery shells, U.S. officials say

China is considering sending Russia lethal military aid in the form of artillery shells as President Vladimir Putin’s army rapidly depletes its supply of ammunition a year into his invasion of Ukraine, U.S. officials said, a prospect that has alarmed those in the Biden administration who believe Beijing has the ability to transform the war’s trajectory.

There is no evidence that any weapons transfers have occurred, these officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the U.S. government’s assessment. But if China does move ahead, it would mark the first time Beijing has provided lethal aid in the conflict despite repeated warnings by the United States not to provide such support. It would also violate the spirit of a peace plan Chinese leaders proposed Friday.

The aid being contemplated consists of 122-millimeter and 152-millimeter rounds, which Russia has in dwindling supply as it prosecutes a war largely fought with artillery, the officials said.

The disclosure, first reported Friday by the Wall Street Journal, follows a public warning from Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who said last weekend that Beijing is seriously considering a provision of lethal aid. It comes, too, as Western nations grow increasingly concerned that Chinese involvement in the conflict could prove a significant setback for Ukraine and its backers.

“China has the capacity to be a game-changer,” said a senior U.S. administration official.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In response to Blinken’s warning, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said this week that China “will never accept the U.S. pointing fingers at Sino-Russian relations or even coercing us.” Urging the United States to “earnestly reflect on its own actions,” Wang said “it is the United States and not China that is endlessly shipping weapons to the

“Biden blew up Nordtream II. Was that an act of war?”

No, Rule 49 of the EU Rules Based Order is quite clear here, as it states:

Rule 49: “Pipeline modifications are permitted to be done by EU and NATO members as needed to ensure EU and NATO Cohesion”

In this case, the modifications carried out to Nordstream requires that Germany accede to US requirements that no ‘peace settlement’ take place in Ukraine until the Russian government is overthrown. Prior to the modifications, Germany was considering discussions with Russia to end the Ukraine War. With the modification now in place, Germany has no choice but to continue to support US policy.

“It’s their shells. The rest of Europe should be the alarmed ones. Bring the beautiful widows here. Bring 3 kids with them.”

I had lunch with a Russian friend in Tallahassee. He managed to leave the Soviet Union. He has sponsored his wife’s childhood Ukrainian friend and her family. The grandmother moved in with them. The mother and her children are living in an apartment. He’s flying a Ukrainian flag on his deck.

Virtually all of the Western countries with exception of the United States are in demographic decline. Poland’s ambition to have a large military was seriously hampered by the impending lack of children. The influx of Ukrainian women and children will doubtless help the nations they have fled to as many will get jobs and never return home. Meanwhile, Ukraine and Russia are in serous demographic decline much exacerbated by the war deaths. Putin thought he’d add eight or ten million to Russia’s population just by annexing them, but LNR and DPR manpower losses plus the people who fled the war will make that plan a wash.

China wants to be sanctioned. Good, maybe we can start by closing their Confucius propaganda bases at our colleges.

Not liking the war or anyone on any of the sides does not make one a “FRussian”, other than in the minds of those who think Ukraine a legitimate strategic interest of the USA, and not a money laundering scam for the ruling class.

Thanks. The EU/NATO keeps lecturing Russia on their Rules-Based Order, but never tells Russia what the rules are (a frequent complaint of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov). The problem is the EU/NATO cannot disclose their rules (if they even exist), as they have broken every one of them (such as bombing Serbia into submission in order to break off Kosovo).

So I’m trying to help them here by guessing at their rules.

China could collapse the US economy:

I agree. The cases I’m familiar with are frauds milking the system. Whenever there’s a law enacted for the betterment of anyone, people not entitled will find a way to use it.

As long as Russia can deliver cash, oil and coal to China, China will send shells to Russia. The trans Siberian railroad probably transports them. The Russians better be careful. The Biden Administration really is good at sabotaging tracks and causing spectacular train wrecks in areas it doesn’t like.
