And with the U.S. struggling to keep Ukraine supplied in its fight against a decrepit Russian military, there is concern about what could happen if the U.S. were to become involved in a conflict with China. CSIS recently conducted a war game that showed that the U.S. would run out of a key weapon — Long Range Anti Ship Missiles (LRASM) — while trying to stop a Chinese invasion of Taiwan.

BTW, Ukraine’s air force is still operating — they just never had a lot of operational fighters and such to start with, and obviously have had losses. Still, even with all their missiles and such, Russia has not yet been able to establish air supremacy over Ukie held territory or KEEP Ukie air strips out of action.

That creates “GLSDB’s”.
The SDB’s are of no present use to Ukraine because they’d need something like F-16’s to launch them “as is”.

It’s not just the US.
In our case, our DOD evidently figured massive artillery wars and such were not the way to go — we’d skip to more efficient gear and methods. After all, SFAIK we don’t have 5 million swords in stock. But as I noted above, the US has self-restrained itself from letting the Ukies have any of the really good stuff, forcing the Ukie effort to (for the most part) depend on lower end weapons.
Europe is a little different story, as they (mostly) literally believed a major war in Europe was impossible.

I turned on the radio and listened to Brian Kilmeade, Fox News, interview someone from the CIA. The CIA guy slandered Putin in the strongest language. For me that detracted from his presentation. Basically, the guy is all-in for the Ukraine. Kilmeade did not disagree. China’s role came up briefly and that is what I found interesting.
The CIA guy said that China wanted to prop-up Russia a little. They do not want Russia to win or lose. They want Russia to stay in the game and lose people and personnel.
This war weakens the US both financially and militarily. The only winner is communist China. How many politicians (and others) are being bribed by China?

Part of the reason that Javelin is so effective is *because* of all the complex electronics and controls on the missiles. Cheap and easily manufactured would be something like the 72mm LAW or the RPG-7/14. Weapons that are no longer terribly effective against enemy armor.
Automation also requires computer chips that we’re not making here, alloys that we don’t mine or make here, and skills that we have let go to waste in favor of underwater basket weaving degrees. Whoops!
Bet we’re not getting any more titanium from Russia and if things keep heating up with China, they may cut us off too.
