New Yorkers living in the suburbs outside of New York City say Gov. Kathy Hochul’s (D) zoning plan to override local laws would effectively demolish their communities, forcing them to accept hundreds of thousands of new housing units.
After failing to impose the plan last year, Hochul is once again attempting to strip the state’s suburban communities of their zoning autonomy with a plan that would force suburbs to build a percentage of new housing and if they do not comply, the state will take control of their local land use laws.

I am SOOO glad we left when we did a few years ago.
Yep.
No, Dems just want the “urban” black and hispanic vote out in the suburbs. Once the suburbs turn blue it will be bye bye Miss American Pie.
As a rule, more minorities live in the suburbs than in inner city areas. You can bet nobody, black, white, brown, are going to be happy watching their property values plummet.
They do not want people and families to live autonomously.
So THEY DESERVE IT, as far as I’m concerned - they had the power to PREVENT that bitch from staying in office, they chose not to, instead they chose to ‘Send a Message’. Obvious question: Did the Democrats in Albany get their ‘message’? Did the (now toothless) Republican in Albany get their ‘message’? You decide.
There were posters here calling Zeldin a RINO, etc. That sure didn’t help. Zeldin was about the most conservative candidate you will ever get for a statewide office in NY.
Oh don't worry. The ones who really want this will move. They're like locusts.
We found eventually that a 1/2 acre lot with increasingly lib/woke neighbors was WAY too small.
They want to spread the decay kill the middleclass and have us all eating from the trough
She doesn’t care. I need to leave this hell hole.
QUIT VOTING FOR DEMOCRATS, YOU DUMBARSES!
Good points, all.
Sending a message by withholding a vote is certainly counterproductive. With only two viable parties to choose from, we need to consider the party nearly as much as the candidate himself.
If we would only focus on getting quality candidates for the primaries, and somehow insure the primary process is free and fair, we could avoid having these problems of government overreach.
That’s what’s intended. Equal distribution of misery.
Ain’t Central Planning grand? This time, socialism will work!
You get what you vote for. Good and hard.
Stupid should hurt.
The dopey white liberals that voted for The Hag of Albany will be the first to cry out when a Section 8 development is built next door to their homes. NY state has been engaged in this practice for quite some time, allowing a certain amount of low income housing when new apartments complexes are built. But, Albany always wantsed to turn Long Island into the next Queens or Brooklyn!
ONLY TAKES ONE ROTTEN APPLE TO SPOIL THE ENTIRE BARREL
ONE acre==43,560 sq ft.
43,560 divided by 50 === 8.71 sq feet.
A standard refrigerator uses more space than that——
SORRY-—871.2 sq feet-—
I do not have a large house, but I do have 1350 sq ft.
House in So Calif was 1250 sq ft-—but the lot was 7750 sq ft
Log house in N Calif was 2553 sq ft on 5 acres—217,800 sq ft.
