The Michigan State University Police and Public Safety Department confirmed Thursday that the Monday night attacker had two 9mm handguns on his person, both of which were legally purchased.

Breitbart News reported that the alleged MSU attacker faced felony gun charges in 2019. Those charges, had they been pursued, would have barred the alleged attacker from buying or possessing a firearm. However, the Ingham County District Attorney’s Office accepted a plea deal, allowing the alleged attacker to face probation for a misdemeanor instead.

Just because they were legally purchased doesn’t give him the right to kill people. He was a murdering biatch. The far left “media” shouldn’t make excuses for the boy.

The question is, was the law selectively applied , meaning charges reduced because of race, or do White men get the same plea deal?
Furthermore, the District Attorney does not ACCEPT a plea deal, she is the one who offers a plea deal. What good are laws if they are only selectively enforced on the basis of race?
They also said he had the reason he did it written down and on his person. But they couldn’t release it at this time.
Probably not too dissimilar from Patrick Purdy in 1989 and Nikolas Cruz in 2018 in that this individual likely belonged in some sort of institutionalized care, but was basically ignored and that because there was no record of him being formally committed due to mental illness, he likely cleared the background checks and waiting periods required for legal firearms acquisitions.

FACT - regardless of “race” you would be hard pressed to find many venues in the US where a person with no real criminal history (I don’t count driving infractions - almost more of a civil matter) would be convicted of a felony on their first non-violent felony charge.
It just doesn’t happen and it really has nothing to do with race. Its how our criminal justice system functions.
FACT - the “crime” he committed is NOT a crime in many states (right to carry) and most who are criticizing the Soros prosecutor (I am no fan for sure) are the same ones who believe “right to carry” should be the law everywhere or there should be no laws governing firearms.
Too many of us (me too) miss the point that murder is already illegal regardless of the tool that is used. I get that people want to point out the hypocrisy but you don’t win the argument by being hypocritical yourself.
This “shooter” sounds like a paranoid schizophrenic to me and THAT was probably the primary “cause” for what happened - not a “tool”.

For every “schizophrenic” like this guy (diagnosed or not diagnosed - treated or untreated) there are 99 (or many times more - my guesstimate) others with the same diagnosis who will never do something like this so its really NOT a problem that can be fixed by government. You won’t stop this with gun laws either..... that is a joke. Lansing is one of the top-20 most violent places in the nation per capita for shootings/murder.
You ar being intentionally obtuse. Gun laws are useless if they are not enforced. That is the point. If you think that this prosecutor only dismisses first time felonies, you are extremely naive. This guys father has admitted that neighbors had complained about the son shooting guns in the backyard. Nothing was done.
You cannot have a record of a felony if all felonies are reduced to misdemeanors and dismissed without even a fine.

The leftist solution is to have more gun free zones even though this gun free zone did not work, just like in the vast majority of mass shootings. Leftists would also insist on more restrictive gun controls, based on the cosmetic appearances of weapons, size of magazines, and more licenses controlled by the state. (That’s a partial list.)
The conservative solution consists of the elimination of all gun free zones and regular practice of gun control at the local shooting range by the vast majority of citizens (emphasis on citizens).
Gretchen Whitmer will come out soon and claim the gun store was racist, that they encouraged him to do the shootings.
Based on his reported criminal history it is my opinion that it is extremely unlikely that ANY person charged with carrying a firearm without a permit (a low grade felony charge) would be convicted on a first offense. Based on media reports, his only other criminal history were driving offenses or related to the status of his drivers license.
Many FReepers often talk about how they carry a gun without a permit in cities/states where it is illegal. I don’t blame them.... better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
They likely have no real criminal history either. Outside of the deepest blue places like DC, Chicago, or NYC, or similar states, the chances of them being “convicted of a felony” on the first offense is minimal and we would disagree if they were prosecuted for a felony. We see news stories about people driving through NJ or NY being arrested for having a gun in their trunk all the time and nobody here is yelling to “throw the book at them”.
I live in a pretty “red” area and I would bet $$$$ the case would have preceded in a similar fashion as this one did. In fact, I am surprised he even got “supervised probation” and that was likely just to make sure he paid the fines (another common trick).
I absolutely agree with you that all laws are useless if they are not enforced..... firearms, immigration, drugs, theft, etc etc. However, that is not what we see. There are thousands of felonies happening right now on our southwest border and that is just today!
As far as this guy shooting in the backyard, that would likely violate a municipal code but it would NOT have resulted in a felony charge that would prohibit him from firearms. However, as I stated above, the Lansing Police are dealing with enough shootings and violence to put them in the top-20 for the nation so its probably NOT a priority call for them either.
