CBS News on Tuesday night reported US Intelligence actually saw the spy balloon lift off near China’s south coast and tracked it for nearly a week before it entered US airspace.
“U.S. intelligence watched the Chinese spy balloon as it lifted off near China’s south coast, meaning the U.S. military had been tracking it for nearly a week before it entered U.S. airspace. Longer than originally know,” CBS News reported.
“What they saw was this balloon heading east from China towards Guam and Hawaii, but then it took a sharp northward turn – a beeline towards Alaska!” CBS reported.

The Marxists want to turn up the heat all the way to absolute government control of everything...to the point of dictatorship. The Deep State, the Democrats, academia/education, and many institutions don't necessarily want a Marxist dictatorship (even though some do). But they are on the "more government" team and, therefore, are, unwittingly or not, in league with everyone who wants to turn up the heat.
As to your question why Joe is still in power? I suggest he is still in power because he is an enabler for all those who want more government.
The Bidens are in the business of selling government favors. Ergo, more government translates into more opportunity for the Bidens...more favors to sell.

So if the US tracked the balloon for a week before it came above our shores, I presume we pinpointed and collected the kind of data it was sending back to Chinese satellites?
However, it should have been shot down before it overflew our nuclear sensitive sites - obviously.
US Intelligence is an oxymoron these days.

The biggest problem is this went public at all.
We knew what it was doing, we were treating it the same as their satellites hiding sensitive hardware while studying it probably gaining as much intel from it on how it was monitoring us than they were getting. Then, and only because of public outcry, we shot it down.
This is the President reacting to public opinion rather than sound reason is all, trying to look tough for a bump in his polls no matter what it could cause diplomatically. We have flown manned spy missions over every country in the world at one time or the other. When the Soviets were finally able to bring down a U2 was there public outcry they shot it down? No one even knew about it until they paraded Powers in front of the UN and that was because he was afraid to eject because he know there was explosive charges in the plane put there by the CIA and he figured they rigged them to the ejection charge as well.
All this will do is turn it into a tit for tat with China so they don’t lose face at home I believe. Are we going to lose another EP-3 to direct fire to even the score? There is a reason this stuff stays in the shadows, it’s where the games are played for a reason.
