Is he a good Senator? He seems like he jokes around.
He has a “old southern guy” nature about him.

He’s extremely intelligent - much more so than the avuncular ‘persona’ suggests.
But I’m not at all sure what he means by this.
He jokes a lot when interviewed but in my opinion he is almost always spot on.
He's very good, very bright. He just uses country bumpkin mannerisms because they come naturally to him, and it really disarms his opponents.
If he is confounded, I am in good company.
