The Redskins should have kept their logo and just changed their mascot to a potato.
1. When the NFL started in the 1920s it was very much an upstart league, playing in the shadow of professional baseball in major U.S. cities.
2. To hitch itself to baseball’s popularity, the early owners decided to adopt many team names that were linked to established baseball teams in those cities. The New York Giants had the same name as the baseball team whose stadium they shared. This was also the case with the Boston Braves. The Chicago Bears were named to complement the Cubs, the Detroit Lions complemented the Tigers, etc.
3. The NFL’s Boston Braves moved to Fenway Park in the 1930s. They changed their name to the Redskins so they could retain a Native American theme while also complementing the name of their MLB landlord, the Boston Red Sox.

I think it’s great. But a travesty that Redskins had to totally disappear.

Redskins desperately need a new stadium and financial underpinning ain’t happening until racist “Redskins” and unwoke Snyder are gone.

I just can’t imagine the Schadenfreude now with the black guy wearing all the Indian paraphernalia. They’d strip him off the car commercials!

The Rams and the Chargers got their stadium built in L.A. with private funds. Same with the Giants and the Jets in the Meadowlands in New Jersey. Dan Synder is worth 4.9 billion dollars. He can take out a loan to build the new stadium. It'll cost him money. But at the same time, he'll make more money in a brand new stadium. Especially if it's a dome because he'll be able to host events like the Final Four and the Super Bowl.
Because Washington is full of foreign people who haven’t assimilated as Americans.
Because Chiefs fans are not pussies and Redskins management are.
