Most likely, however I believe the appointment can only last until the 24 election cycle at which point if the country hasn’t collapsed the repugs can run another awful candidate

Not much different this past November when Fetterman ‘stole’ the vote vs. (D)s voting for dead people. The (D) will vote for any babykiller, dead or alive.
They've been doing that for a long time. Who remembers when they dug Frank Lautenberg up to replace the corrupt Bob Torricelli during the 2002 election? And the democrats did it illegally, within 60 days of the election. No one cared, and they let them get away with it.
Jim "I am a gay American" McGreevey was governor at the time. Some might recall that McGreevey gave one of his boy-toys a position in his administration (Golan Cipel, 35, an Israeli poet whom McGreevey hired in 2002 as his homeland security adviser), the discovery of which led to McGreevey's resignation, and the ridiculous "I am a gay American" speech. McGreevey tried to make himself a martyr. The reality is that he was married (to a woman), hired someone with no qualifications to be part of his administration, and had an affair with him.
