Mom accused of killing her children built snowman with them before deaths: Prosecutor

A Massachusetts 32-year-old woman charged with strangling her three young children to death last month planned the killings, prosecutors argued on Tuesday, disclosing new details about the alleged actions of the woman, Lindsay Clancy, on the day of the incident.

Prosecutors, trying to prove that Clancy was not mentally compromised on Jan. 24, the day of the deaths, described in court a day that suggested nothing out of the ordinary. She took a child to the pediatrician's office and built a snowman with her kids in their backyard, they said.

Later that afternoon, according to prosecutors, Clancy, who appeared in court Tuesday via Zoom from her hospital bed, searched on Apple Maps the time it would take to drive to and from a restaurant in an adjacent town. She then called the restaurant to place a pick-up order before asking her husband, Patrick, to drive to get the meal, prosecutors said.

The restaurant, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, was farther from the family's Duxbury home than where they normally ordered take-out from, said Jennifer Sprague, the Plymouth County Assistant District Attorney, who added that Clancy sounded mentally intact when placing the order.

Shortly after her husband left, Clancy texted him to ask him to buy medication at CVS on the way to the restaurant. While there, he called Clancy to clarify which medicine to get – a phone call Patrick Clancy told prosecutors was "completely normal," though he noted that his wife "seemed like she was in the middle of something."

Patrick Clancy described to prosecutors returning home to his wife on the ground in the backyard, with cuts on her wrist and neck. The window of their second-floor bedroom was open. She was conscious, prosecutors said.

When Patrick asked where the kids were, Lindsay replied, "In the basement," according to Sprague.

Disgusting. She’s one of Satan’s demons and deserves no compassion. Destroy it and thereby send it back to Hell where it belongs.

Precedent:?

Andrea Pia Yates (née Kennedy; born July 2, 1964) is an American woman from Houston, Texas, who confessed to drowning her five children in their bathtub on June 20, 2001.[1] The case of Yates–who had exhibited severe postpartum depression, postpartum psychosis, and schizophrenia leading up to the murders–placed the M'Naghten rules, along with the irresistible impulse test for sanity, under close public scrutiny in the United States.

At Yates' 2002 trial, Chuck Rosenthal, the district attorney in Harris County, asked for the death penalty. Yates was convicted of capital murder, but the jury refused the death penalty option. She was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after forty years. The verdict was overturned on appeal, in light of false testimony by one of the supposed expert psychiatric witnesses.[2] On July 26, 2006, a Texas jury in her retrial found that Yates was not guilty by reason of insanity. She was consequently committed by the court to the high-security North Texas State Hospital in Vernon,[3] where she received medical treatment and was a roommate of Dena Schlosser, another woman who committed infanticide by killing her infant daughter. In January 2007, Yates was moved to Kerrville State Hospital, a low-security state mental hospital in Kerrville, Texas.[4][5]

At the time of the murders, the Yates family was living in the Houston suburb of Clear Lake City. Yates continued under Dr. Saeed's care until June 20, 2001, when Rusty left for work, leaving her alone to watch the children against Dr. Saeed's instructions to supervise her around the clock.[12] Rusty's mother, Dora Yates, had been scheduled to arrive an hour later to take over for Andrea. In the space of that hour, Andrea Yates drowned all five children.[13]

Yates started with John, Paul, and Luke, and then laid them in her bed. She then drowned Mary, whom she left floating in the tub. Noah came in and asked what was wrong with Mary. He then ran, but Yates soon caught and drowned him. She left him floating in the tub, and laid Mary in John's arms in the bed. She then called the police, repeatedly saying she needed an officer but refusing to say why. She then called Rusty and told him to come home right away.[8] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrea_Yates

Yates was boasting to fellow prisoners how she was faking her depression.

Yates obviously planned everything... but I never heard that she admitted it later.

It just makes one sick to his stomach and a heart that sheds tears for the innocent children.

Ironic that both Yates and this, Lindsay Clancy, were both nurses.

Let not your heart be troubled.

The children are with the Lord (2 Samuel 12:23) but she will have to face God as a murderer of His little ones. (Matt 18:6)

She also said she resented the two oldest, because she couldn’t treat the third like the first child, yet she wanted more children. The PPD cult is going to blame the doctors, or blame the absence of doctors in other cases, they’ll say because she planned something doesn’t mean she’s in her right mind, then say she wasn’t in her right mind. Some women don’t have children so they can love them, but so that they can be loved. The husband has collected 1 million dollars from his Go Fund Me, and it’s still getting more. I think it started when the infant was still alive in the hospital for several days.

Yes, I know PPD is real. I had it twelve years, ago. When I say “PPD cult”, I mean those who apply it every case, and keep moving the goal posts in ever situation dismissing factual evidence.

When the Yates story broke, I was home with a newborn and other children myself.

I'll never understand the forgiving husbands of these killers. Now Mr. Yates is commenting on this case. He thinks she shouldn't be prosecuted. Source

That term describes them perfectly. All the support this woman is receiving is sickening.

Too many people on psych meds. But, this woman is a nurse.

And she planned everything very meticulously.

She was diagnosed with GAD not PPD, and when she went to psychiatrists, they told her she didn’t have PPD. I certainly didn’t have to ask if I had it, I just kept rambling, and she told me I wasn’t bonding properly with my child, plus the painful ovarian cysts kept me constantly fatigued. Prozac (for me) made a huge difference.
