Former President Donald Trump is ahead of his potential 2024 Republican challengers by double digits, a Tuesday Morning Consult survey found.
The survey showed Trump leading his closest potential challenger, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), by 18 percent, garnering 49 percent support compared to the governor’s 31 percent.
No other potential challenger comes close, as former Vice President Mike Pence falls to third place with just seven percent support. Former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, who is reportedly slated to announce a presidential bid this month, comes in fourth place with three percent support, followed by former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) with two percent and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) with two percent. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) saw one percent support, and Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin garnered zero percent support:
Roughly one month ago in this survey, on January 7, Trump stood at 47 percent support compared to DeSantis’s 33 percent. The current figures reflect a swing in Trump’s direction.

I’ll vote for Trump, twice!
Here’s the deal with Trump...he was a great President. So what are people supposed to do, throw him under the bus as a thank you parting gift? I’d prefer DeSantis and others support the President and offer him their private advice and counsel etc.
So what Blue Wall State will Trump win in 2024? Michigan - Pennsylvania - Wisconsin - Minnesota? Try None of the above
Typical fake news from DeSantis haters.
For example: Voted against funding the wall. This was Trump’s bill that provided amnesty to illegals and a path to citizenship. 111 conservative republicans voted against. RINOs voted for it.
Yup what the political junkies here and elsewhere need to realize is a large portion of the population are nowhere near as tuned in as they are and often only have a vague idea of whats happening even on the Presidential stage. These people will have no real clue as to what the ideology or the positions of candidates are and often simply vote based on name recognition alone. Trump benefits from this in the primary because being a showman the media can’t stop reporting on his antics so he’s effectively hogged the limelight for an entire election cycle and pushed all other republicans out.
Unfortunately this is a double edged sword in the general. You’re no longer dealing with disengaged Repubs who will vote for the Repub with the most name recognition. You’re dealing with the even more disengaged even more ignorant general election voter. While 2016 the average ignorant voter knew nothing about Trump other than a vague association of Trump = wacky outsider. The media learned its lesson and nowadays the average ignorant voter knows nothing about Trump other than Trump = racist sexist homophobic transphobic badman.

Trump is unelectable. Nothing has changed for him since 2020.
Nobody else is currently running. Of course the *only* primary candidate is ahead in the polls.
Trump is unelectable. Nothing has changed for him since 2020.
So says the NeverTrumper....who believes the 2020 Presidential election wasn’t stolen.
Are you saying the globalist RINO Uniparty is going continue with their cheat? You sound very sure....you must have good RINO connections.
😂
Only 690 more poll days until the election.
LOL!! I knew you’d be the first Trump hater to chime in.
***********
Difference in being a Trump hater and what one sees as
reality. I’ll vote for Trump is he’s the nominee but I
don’t see him as the one to defeat Biden/Harris. The
DEMS have a female in position to become President and
that will go a long ways in the next election. Not sure
whom the PUBS should put on the ticket. The world is ever
changing, be it for good or bad. JMO
Wake me up when Trump, the former president and only candidate running breaks 50%.
Anyhow, there's two other polls out this week with DeSantis leading so, you know... Polls shmolls.
lol — I’m sure Trump wouldn’t look any better in those digs, but DS Ron should keep his focus on FL.
That’s not good.
“reality” is overrated and kinda like “science”
I see you don’t argue against that fact.
>>Trump is unelectable. Nothing has changed for him since 2020.
Do you realize how egregious that sounds? Do you really believe Biden honestly flipped the battleground states after midnight?
Let me double down on your dumb premise.
So what Blue Wall State will DeSantis win in 2024? Michigan - Pennsylvania - Wisconsin - Minnesota?
Feel free to answer or not, you can't prove either scenario.
It isn't fact troll.
This is a ridiculous poll because he is the only one who has announced.
