“Good evening. I’m Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
“Being a mom to three young children taught me not to believe every story I hear. So forgive me for not believing much of anything I heard tonight from President Biden. From out-of-control inflation and violent crime to the dangerous border crisis and threat from China, Biden and the Democrats have failed you.
“They know it. And you know it.
“It’s time for a change.
“Tonight, let us reaffirm our commitment to a timeless American idea: that government exists not to rule the people, but to serve the people.
“Democrats want to rule us with more government control, but that is not who we are. America is the greatest country the world has ever known because we are the freest country the world has ever known, with a people who are strong and resilient.
“Five months ago, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It was a hard time for our family, particularly for our kids – Scarlett, Huck, and George – but we kept our faith and persevered.
“Thanks to exceptional doctors here in Arkansas, a successful surgery, and the grace of God, I am cancer-free.
“Through it all, I couldn’t help but think about my mom.
“She was 20 years old and in her first year of marriage when she was diagnosed with spinal cancer. The doctors told her she might not live. If she did live, they said she’d never walk again, and if she did walk, she’d definitely never have children.
“The daughter she was told she’d never have was just sworn in as the new Governor of Arkansas and is speaking to you tonight.

😄 Sorry about that. That IS probably why Trump was passed over.
“The dividing line in America is no longer between right or left. “The choice is between normal or crazy.”
I don’t know who first brought this up but “Liberalism is a mental disease”.
And now they run the asylum.
I recall Charles Manson answer to the question “Are you crazy?”. -
I recall Charley saying,” I’m just a reflection of youuuuu!”.
Again and Again, 'The Sane Choice Is Between Normal and Delusional/Insane/Crazy’, ignored by the elite left wing mediots:
I’m 100% convinced, it’s the subversive communist who have hijacked the government and the universities who are pushing all this chaos and insanity, but they’re not the mentally ill. They’re not stupid. They stole the election. They’re calling the shots and control the White House.
The mentally ill are those who buy what they’re peddling and actually vote for these evil misfits. And I would estimate 4 out of 10 Democrats are mentally ill/insane, to one degree or another. No joke.
Women shouldn’t be allowed to vote, let alone hold office.
Repeal the 19th Amendment.
No prob. I can see how that sounded.....My fault for not being more clear
I knew that was you before I finished reading 1st sentence. Lol!
I wonder what fraction of democRATs are routinely taking psychiatric drugs, or regularly visiting a psychiatrist or psychologist? I bet the fraction of psych patients in the 'Rat Party is much higher than in the Repugnican Party.
One of the best political rebuttals I’ve ever seen.
The story she told about accompanying President Trump to Iraq and meeting the soldier who have her his Brave Rifles patch brought tears to my eyes.
Her statement is clear and draws a stark comparison between the democrat government uber alles cradle-thatred of America o-grave vision liberal indoctrination vs. the Conservative (sadly, only shared by a few Republicans) image of individualism, freedom and self-reliance.
Lou Dobbs and Steve Bannon thought it was terrible — dismissive to Trump.
“Sarah Huckabee Sanders says the dividing line in America is between normal and crazy.”
This should have been the message of the Republicans in the midterms, and should be their message in 2024.
Huckabee-Sanders took this unique opportunity to highlight what might have been Trump’s finest moment as POTUS.
This is hardly an example of her being self-centered
How is what you are doing not gaslighting?
And the 17th while you’re at it.
🙄 🙄 🙄
Why the reference to her and her mother’s cancer diagnosis? What’s that got to do with anything? And the longwinded tale about flying to Iraq with the president whose name she didn’t mention? Was it to show how courageous she is, flying in a plane at night and landing in a darkened airport?
How about tearing into the Biden regime about Americans rotting in jail simply because they stood inside the Capitol taking selfies? How about mentioning the Justice Department’s FBI thugs arresting an innocent man in front of his children because he protested in front of an abortion clinic?
Instead, we got Sanders auditioning for the v-p spot. Lots of fine rhetoric here but I wanted to see some outrage. I wanted specific examples to infuriate Americans about how our country is being destroyed by these people. How many illegals are flooding across the border EVERY DAY? Where are they coming from? How many who may have terrorist connections are not being stopped but are spreading throughout the heartland? Why are crime rates soaring in our major cities?
Instead, we got Sanders avoiding the really nasty stuff so she can spend her limited time making sure to shine the light on herself.
I’d have preferred Marjorie Taylor Green who appears to be the only Republican who has the guts to tell it like it is.
Maybe. But let's take male/female out of it completely. Only property owners should be allowed to vote or hold office.
I understand the complaint that she did not fully name “President Trump” in her speech.
But her closing story reflected very positively upon President Trump.
I think the insistence on his name is disingenuous. She was his press secretary and did an incredible job of defending President Trump against an unholy army of haters.
Her advocacy in Arkansas defends the values that have the greatest chance of bolstering Trump.
I think Dobbs and Bannon are being foolish at best. The speech was clearly among the best responses ever given to a SOTU and I have pretty much seen them all for the past 25 years.
I said nary a word about Sarah's rebuttal as to political content. I was commenting on her style....too much "me"......and rambling around.
I wish Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan (or someone similar who knows how to lay the enemy to waste) had been selected to give the rebuttal....his thoughts are always organized and he gets right to the point with his "mailed-fist-in-a-velvet-glove" abilities. He would have destroyed the SOTU speech.
