A white officer involved in the fatal arrest of Tyre Nichols last month has been fired from the Memphis Police Department for several conduct violations during the incident.
The department said in a statement on Friday that Preston Hemphill was terminated from his role for violations of personal conduct, truthfulness, compliance with regulations concerning a taser, compliance with regulations concerning equipment and inventory and processing recovered property.
“After a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding this incident, we determined that Officer Preston violated multiple department policies,” the department said.

My first thought. Some of us had that thought when they announced the charges for the other five.

Now ALL the focus of the media will be on this poor jamoke for what is akin to a process crime, all because he is white. The five black cops will be forgotten, because now the lynch mob has a white guy to blame.
Every white cop needs to just walk off the force. Every single one of them.

Further indication that this was an ambush. The cops wanted to light this man up. The big question is why?
No, but apparently he lied about the reason for pulling Nichols over and dragging him out of the car at gunpoint. I suspect the Memphis PD by now knows the real reason he was targeted. If it was a conspiracy to target the victim, Hemphill will probably be prosecuted, depending on what he knew. Getting fired might be the least of his problems...
