A massive spy balloon from China is flying over the continental U.S., government officials said Thursday.
"The United States government has detected and is tracking a high-altitude surveillance balloon that is flying over the continental United States right now," Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder told reporters. "NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) continues to track and monitor it closely."

Is there any control of these atmospheric balloons, or do they just drift with the wind??? have the Chinese any way of retrieving them??
No let's just follow the others who compare this to old balloons (that did not have today's camera and radio technology), and declare this is normal and nothing right? Even over missile silos and bomber fleets.
Let's just normalize all Chinese surveillance of the USA no matter how brazen!
Sarcasm of course. We should shoot it down, or better yet there must be a way to retrieve it without destroying it.
“The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that there was a ground stop in Billings, Montana, on Wednesday but an agency spokesperson did not share more details.”
What does this sentence mean?
Didn’t the Japanese send the bubonic plague to China via balloons?
Stool pigeon coop?
We have the technology to disable any electronics on board and render them useless. This is the most logical action and probably has already been done judging by the way they are acting. Or they are just fools.
Is that the one I saw on Flight-24 over Oklahoma last night?
No ... totally different. Wiki-hahahaha-pedia has a relatively decent page on the Open Skies treaty.
The U2 flights over the USSR were basically because we could get away with it. Until we couldn’t. Then we developed (and continue to develop) other means. Oddly enough, the U2 still flies, but not over seriously denied or contested territory.
I saw the supposed video of it a while ago.... IT WAS PRETTY OBVIOUSLY THE MOON.
However there are some balloons flying and I assume spying above us on behalf of OUR government. They are listed as part of Project Loon, which was supposedly shut down two years ago.
Yesterday HBAL616 was flying over NM, East of Albuquerque and Santa Fe:

And today, HBAL617 (perhaps the same balloon with different transponder number???) was flying over Eastern NM, North Texas, Kansas and is now over Arkansas.

Its a Chinese fast food take out! They deliver.
Eat at the Hoo Flung Dung at your own risk, as Joe Biden does.
You enjoying your summer I trust? Colder that a witches t*t
here.
The SOTU address by Biden is going to be a fiasco.......maybe plan on watching it live.
Joe soon will be completely silent, he is refusing to answer questions now, about so many things.INCLUDING questions about these multiple Chinese balloon overflights.
I bet the Chinoise are testing the jet stream to figure out the optimum nuclear fall out spread or air born bio weapon from the West Coast.
...and nobody knew about them until ten years after the war. They didn’t cause any noticeable damage.
Six people were killed by an explosion from one. The balloons were kept secret to hide the results from the Japanese.
Is there a picture of this so-called Chinese balloon? What is stopping us from shooting this damn thing down if it’s over United States territory? This sounds like an idiot story, so what is the real story? I’m not buying any of this until I see proof
Thanks for that information. I looked it up ... goodness, a church group!
One over Atlanta, too /s

Balloon Boy would know what to do
—
I’ll never forget that afternoon: Shepard Smith, I think, coined the phrase Balloon Boy. All those long shots of the balloon. Shepard Smith. It went on for hours. Pure entertainment.
I wouldn’t be wedded to the idea that it is a spy balloon. It would also be an effective way to spread biological agents over a wide area of the country.
