I read ya. Back when the speed limit was lower I was pulled over on hwy 101 coming home from work for going 61 in a 55. Mandatory court appearance. The girl before me, latina although I had no idea of her legal status, had several bench warrants for failure to appear, unpaid parking tickets, fix it ticket - you name it. And no insurance.

The judge said he’d rather see the fine money go to car insurance and gave her two weeks to produce proof of to the Clerk of the Court. The rest of the fees were waved.

My turn comes and its ‘the fine for speeding is X dollars. Pay the Clerk.’
