On Tuesday, Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced several reforms to the state's higher education system.

We certainly don’t need “thought control”. Critical Race Theory definitely qualifies, as does the entire “diversity” agenda.
Hooray! About time racist subjects were removed from government schools.
Hey! Teacher! Leave those kids alone.
That line really cuts to the bone, these days ... too many “teachers” are molesters and groomers.
I don’t feel tardy.
There has to be school tax strikes and educational cooperatives for elementary schools. Parents take turns teaching classrooms in people’s homes, and take turns making their homes available, where the government schools have become unsafe and unreliable.
Shouldn’t he be saying what he will do in the United States? Oh, that’s right, he’s not running for President.
Don't be a retard.
Good move, but I see it as more red meat to excite the MAGA base.
But democrats will argue that without diversity quotas and fake classes that will doom the less supremier students to be left behind
Good for him. He’s doing a good job down there in Florida.
I’ve notice a cross section of government officials down
there seem to have their heads pretty well glued on too.
What we need is teaching of critical thinking. If this type of banning, etc. continues who is to the say the Bible will might not be banned..?? That OK with you?? There are people who would support that...so don’t kid yourself it can’t/wont happen.
I’ll be VERY IMPRESSED if he can excise it, as CRT is in the blood of virtually every ‘teacher’ and administrator in the public schools.
...but if anyone can get rid of CRT, it will be DeSantis, as he doesn’t wait until the Chamber of Commerce gives him permission.
What I’d like to ban is government schools.
Entirely.
Education is far too important to let the government continue wrecking it.
desantis still hasn’t announced he’s running for president...
and you’re still prematurely ejaculating...
Good on ya Governor.
This man is a warrior.
We need him.
Maybe those official you are praising would be right at home at book burning bon fires while dressed in their brown shirt uniforms. If anyone seriously thinks that banning books or classes etc. because YOU disagree with what is written or said doesn’t lead to a dictatorship style of govt. you need to wake up and look at history. Maybe you’d support a red star on teachers who defy this edict?
Dictating what colleges can teach is ridiculous. You want to turn out brainless sheep then sure that’s how you do it. If you want to turn out people who, while they might not agree with your opinions, might develop useful medicines, cutting edge technology, then this approach won’t do that.
Controlling what young school children are exposed to is fine, no adult will argue against that. But this nonsense about telling adults what they can read, what classes they can or can not take is wrong....period.
Where did you gt your education??? At a public school no doubt like most Americans. Has what is being taught changed...Yes. If change is needed it is up to the community and the parents to do that. But this nonsense about banning books classes serves no one. It only serves to pit people against each other and that will not end well. Of course there are books and classes that young children should not be exposed to. But to use this umbrella called CRT or whatever the latest outrage is as cover to introduce some other form of indoctrination won’t serve us well either.
I do not pretend to have an answer. But I can say where we are heading in not good...for anyone or either side of this issue.
A. Welcome to FreeRepublic newbie
B. NEVER, toss the Nazi label - or even suggest it - around here or you will see yourself on the wrong end of a Viking kitty zot.
C. Have you even looked at the CRT curriculum? I have. It is embarrassingly unprofessional, incorrect, and actually is designed to create resentment against white people.
D. I will give you one guess as to what Ros DeSantis majored in...
