Ukraine scored 33 out of 100 on corruption in 2022, which puts the country near the bottom third out of 180 countries scored, according to the annual Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) published this week by non-profit Transparency International.

Out of 180 countries scored, Ukraine was the 116th most corrupt, according to the yearly ranking published on Tuesday.

Ukraine’s score of 33 was one point higher than in 2021, but the same as the year before, 2020.

Q. How corrupt was Poland when Germany invaded in 1939?
A. It doesn’t matter. All that matters is that Germany sent tanks across a sovereign border.

Same applies here.

Did the US declare war on Germany then?

As far as I can tell, there is no good guy in the war between Russia and Ukraine.

No matter who runs things in greater Russia (The Ukraine, Byelorussia, and Russia) they will always be corrupt.

It’s their way of life.

Ah, yes. You make a good point. Germany started the war back then (1939). Russia started the current war. But that doesn’t automatically mean we should be involved.

I state the obvious when I say that Hitler was a monster. He had to be stopped, period. But I see Putin more like an opportunistic Kaiser Wilhelm II. The Kaiser had to be checked. But not by us. Not our problem.

The article leaves out the Russia rating which is far worse than Ukraine’s.

Russia is at 28 and ranks 137 instead of Ukraine’s 116.

Russia still holds its position as far more corrupt.

Iran (147)
North Korea (177)
Venezuela (177)
Syria (178)

I equate this more with Japan invading Manchuria in 1931.

Now, that wound up setting a lot of wheels in motion that ultimately led to Pearl Harbor, ten years later.

No, we gave Britain weapons, 50 destroyers in July 1940.

In July 1940, after Britain had sustained the loss of 11 destroyers to the German Navy over a 10-day period, newly elected British Prime Minister Winston Churchill requested help from President Roosevelt. Roosevelt responded by exchanging 50 destroyers for 99-year leases on British bases in the Caribbean and Newfoundland.

Yes, because by that time in 1940 France had fallen.

Just because the Ukraine is corrupt that didn’t give Obama and Nuland the right to overthrow their government

“So Russia is more corrupt than Ukraine, not a surprise really.”

That’s a lot of what this war is about. Ukrainians look west to their fellow Slavs in Poland and Bohemia and see how much better their lives have gotten since communism under democratic governments.

The Ukrainian people want to escape the kleptocrats that run Russia and Ukraine, but those same kleptocrats (with Putin as their chief) make too much money off of Ukraine to let them go.
