A suspected police impersonator was apprehended near the Capitol on Monday and found with a stash of knives and a chainsaw blade, according to authorities.
The man, Max Eli Viner, 37, who was wanted by the U.S. Secret Service for questioning, was noticed by a U.S. Capitol Police officer on Monday evening. When Capitol Police searched him, they found the weapons, according to a release from the Capitol Police.
When the Secret Service arrived and searched the man’s SUV, the officers discovered fake police equipment, shell casings, a smoke grenade and a gas mask.
It is unclear why Viner was wanted prior to the incident. The Secret Service did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Maybe in a pinch when nothing else is available it might be better than nothing, but not much. I guess one could actually swing/toss it at someone though, but would likely just be cutting themselves trying to do so.
It’s a violent insurrection. He probably called out to (now dismissed) Congress that he has them surrounded and they should just give up and relinquish control of the US to him.

Empty cases are illegal to posses in the District. Don’t get caught with one even accidentally lodged in the sole of your boot or you’ll get your picture in the paper.
Chains and chain guide. In a pinch, just about everything can be a weapon.
Maybe the idiot reporter meant reciprocating saw blade, which is what that yellow one in the middle looks like. “Reciprocating” is an awfully big word for today’s journalists.
