Lawmakers are on a crash course over how to deal with the debt limit in the coming weeks, and it’s a collision that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) thinks Democrats will win.
Schumer has hammered House Republican for demanding spending cuts from Democrats and the White House in exchange for raising the debt limit, saying the GOP is “flirting with disaster.”
“The plan is to get our Republican colleagues in the House to understand they’re flirting with disaster and hurting the American people,” Schumer said in an interview with Politico. “And to let the American people understand that as well. And I think we’ll win.”

The GOP should shut down the government until they get 100% of what they want. Period. Don’t worry about “blame”, just shut r down.
Or is it because the RATS don’t really have any real opposition?
The RATS know the Repukes always cave. They just put up token resistance, which is enough to fool the gullible Republican voters into believing that their party is putting up a fight. Its nothing but a show.

Why is anyone asking Chuck about this? He can only respond to what he gets from the House and the House hasn’t sent anything yet. The House has promised single issue bills and none of the OmniFuch stuff that has been passing as legislation.
He’s right.
Democrats play to win.
Republicans play for the participation trophy.
Republicans need to take control of the narrative and keep the American people informed of the importance of substantially cutting spending.
Biden must have Obama's list of the few things that the US gov't does that real taxpayers actually enjoy. Remember Obama closing down the national parks and road pulloffs to look at sights like Mount Rushmore?
It's winter, and the middle of the school year, so Biden has fewer opportunities. But there are probably a few ski areas and parks in warm parts of the country that he can shut down.
Our work begins right after the ceiling is raised...and we're working on the next budget allotments. And remember....Joe has that pen....
What do ‘we’ win? If the debt makes no difference than make it a bizillion or better yet don’t have one at all.

If this is about winners and losers, the American people are the losers and Chuck gets his 2% off the top.
This is a certainty.

It sure is. The short-term “I get money now” always beats “fiscal austerity from now and continuing for a decade or more”.
Its why payday loans, as obvious a bad idea as they are under almost all circumstances, flourish as a business. We are collectively stupid and have no ability to defer gratification.
Only after the austerity is forced upon America will anyone lament what we are doing now and have done in the past.
Democrats are the “JG Wentworth of politics”.
