Still, nothing changes.
Today, this much is clear if it wasn’t apparent before: most of America has conceded. The National Rifle Association (NRA) has won.
The slick defenders of America’s absurd addiction to guns have prevailed. The NRA’s victory over scores of unarmed Americans – including grade-school children – who have forfeited their lives to the astronomical arsenal of guns that litter America is as complete as it is emphatic.

This weekend, our local Tourist Development Council in north Florida sponsored a Chili Cookoff.
About 500 people attended.
Not a single security guard in sight.
Why? There were probably 100 or so CCW license holders.

I’ve posted this before. Years ago I was working for the Feds living in a little efficiency apartment above a dry-cleaner establishment on 14th Street in Washington, D. C. I had gone to high school several blocks away about 10 years earlier. At 11 PM there was a knock on the door. I answered it with a cocked Ballester–Molina in my hand pointed at the ceiling. Four or five POC were standing there. The big guy in front was very apologetic about getting the wrong address, but a little guy was pushing him in the back. I heard him complaining about it bitterly on the way down the steps; “What were you pushing me in the back, when the man had a great big gun in mys face?” I sincerely hope it was a moment of enlightenment for him and saved him future grief. Even at the time, I felt some sympathy for him. Since then I have been a member of the NRA. Got a better suggestion?
I trust the NRA to represent me better than a “real saxophonist.”
Israel just had a mass murder incident. Their response was to make it easier for law abiding Israelis to possess firearms. Democrats, on the other hand, are doubling down on disarming law abiding Americans while doing nothing about criminals, other than making it easier for them to get out of jail.
