Former CIA Moscow station chief calls out Biden for failing to explain Ukraine strategy

Longtime CIA officer and former Moscow station chief Dan Hoffman called out President Joe Biden for not being transparent about the role of the United States in the war in Ukraine.

"The president needs to take a page out of President Reagan's book or FDR's book or JFK — somebody — and explain to us what's going on and why it matters to us," Hoffman said on the John Solomon Reports podcast.

The U.S. announced this week that it would be sending three dozen tanks to the Ukrainians ahead of an expected Russian offensive. The 31 M1A1 Abrams tanks will equal roughly an entire Ukrainian battalion of vehicles, according to a recent report.

Other international allies that have been supporting Ukraine financially include the EU, the United Kingdom and Germany. German Chancellor Olaf Schulz is prepping to announce that Berlin will send a group of Leopard 2 tanks to the country.

Concerned that Americans don't seem to really understand their role in the Ukraine war and how it benefits the United States, Hoffman is calling for President Biden to spell it out.

"He's got to explain to the American people why this is in the U.S. national interest to help Ukraine defend themselves from a nuclear-armed state mounting an imperial land grab," he said. "That's what this is all about."

The upcoming State of the Union address would be a good occasion for Biden to clear things up, according to the CIA officer.

"President Biden does need to speak to the American people, and there's no better day than maybe on February 7 — the State of the Union address," he suggested. "That would be a good time to do it."

That’s easy to answer. It’s because the “Big Guy” gets 10%.

Come on. You know FJB would be way in over his head trying to explain that. You go past the pictures of ice cream on the ice cream truck and Joey boy hasn’t a clue what the heck you’re talking about.

George Soros wanted us involved in the Ukraine war - that's important. Then Ukraine is where 'the elites' launder their money and get their whore monger, drug addicted sons great jobs.

That's why we're protecting Ukraine's border and NOT our borders.

Anyone who thinks this is a 'domino' situation is not connected to reality. Also, Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world and it's NOT a democracy.

'Intelligence' and military contractors want a war for the cash and power that will flow their way. What does this war do for the American people? Nothing. It makes us weaker against a possible Chinese attac.

Oh, there are plenty of emotion-laden speech triggers to explain “ why” the US needs to defend Ukraine from the evil world-domination seeking Russians.
Heavily laden with terms like “ democracy” and “ Russian aggression” sprinkled with jingoism about “ war crimes”

The quiet part is….how, and what a realistic ( note term realistic) victory looks like and what it will cost. To make Russia quit and withdraw. If that is our sole condition.

Is this a border war? Or more? Are borders worth defending to general war between nuc powers? Is nuclear escalation justified? US citizens on the battlefront? A US national draft to support war posture? Honesty please.

Don’t hold your breath.

The quiet part was never fully rationalized….or achieved…in Afghanistan, or Vietnam

"Russians are raining down hell on Ukrainian civilians," Hoffman explained. "They've bombed maternity wards. They've destroyed Ukraine's infrastructure. They've deliberately bombed neighborhoods and hospitals and schools. Millions of Ukrainians have been forced to flee their homes. Millions of refugees now live overseas. Ukraine kind of wants peace in their country back. And so they want to end this as fast as possible. And the longer it delays the end, the worse it is for them

I read an opinion piece that asked the same question - how does this end?

First, set aside the fantasy of a Russian leadership change. There is no opposition in Russia calling for peace. The next guy would likely be even more invested in a war victory.

Second, the west has done some really stupid things as far as diplomacy and sanctions. We’ve seized large amounts of money and assets, cut Russia off from Visa/Mastercard and Swift banking transfers, and sanctioned the government as well as private citizens.

I may be a rube, but I don’t see a future where we shake hands and settle up and go back to normal, no matter who wins on the battlefield. It’s way past that point.

Two years of this regime has done this. What will they do in the next two?

Although I agree with the reasons you listed, I don’t believe they are THE reason, they are a reason, there has to be something bigger when both political parties are in near 100% agreement that risking a potential war with Russia is in the national interest of the USA. Not only the entire political establishment in the USA but nearly every politician in Europe has fallen in line with the idea.

Not all of them have crackhead children raking in millions from Ukraine, in fact most of them do not.

Not all of them could be laundering money thru Ukraine.

I think another reason is the lie that has been told about Russia’s role in getting Trump elected, screwing Hillary in the process. That lie has continued to grow and has reached the point we are risking a war with Russia.

The idea of Europeans risking another land war in Europe against Russia involving German Tanks nearly 80 years after the last devasting war against Russia in one of the most insane ideas of my lifetime.

I don’t pretend to know all the reasons, but simple political corruption to protect a few crackheads is crazy when compared to a major ground war in Europe.

This (CIA vet speaks out) is a turtle on a fencepost moment.

What the regime is really up to in Eastern Europe is very hard to fathom. Listening to “Biden” is obviously the very last thing to do to learn anything.

So the CIA thinks State is messing up?

Good possibility.

They aren’t going to say because this war disaster is not about the US or US interests. It is a war for Globalist interests under the WEF/NWO and not for any noble reason other that to initiate the Great Reset and world domination. Americans are being made to pay for their own destruction as a nation. There is absolutely nothing is this disgusting debacle for Americans.

If troops get sent to die, it will be another waste and betrayal of the American people for elitists power and greed.
