This Time It’s Different - Neither we nor our allies are prepared to fight all-out war with Russia, regionally or globally (Ukes failing, Washington wants direct war)

Until it decided to confront Moscow with an existential military threat in Ukraine, Washington confined the use of American military power to conflicts that Americans could afford to lose, wars with weak opponents in the developing world from Saigon to Baghdad that did not present an existential threat to U.S. forces or American territory. This time—a proxy war with Russia—is different.

Contrary to early Beltway hopes and expectations, Russia neither collapsed internally nor capitulated to the collective West’s demands for regime change in Moscow. Washington underestimated Russia’s societal cohesion, its latent military potential, and its relative immunity to Western economic sanctions.

As a result, Washington’s proxy war against Russia is failing. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was unusually candid about the situation in Ukraine when he told the allies in Germany at Ramstein Air Base on January 20, “We have a window of opportunity here, between now and the spring,” admitting, “That’s not a long time.”

Alexei Arestovich, President Zelensky’s recently fired advisor and unofficial “Spinmeister,” was more direct. He expressed his own doubts that Ukraine can win its war with Russia and he now questions whether Ukraine will even survive the war. Ukrainian losses—at least 150,000 dead including 35,000 missing in action and presumed dead—have fatally weakened Ukrainian forces resulting in a fragile Ukrainian defensive posture that will likely shatter under the crushing weight of attacking Russian forces in the next few weeks.

Ukraine’s materiel losses are equally severe. These include thousands of tanks and armored infantry fighting vehicles, artillery systems, air defense platforms, and weapons of all calibers. These totals include the equivalent of seven years of Javelin missile production.

Russia crossed an international boundary and attacked Ukraine. That is bad. There had been provocation from Ukraine, but it’s still bad.

NATO is now threatening to attack Russia. Unprovoked. Ukraine is not part of NATO. There is no reason for NATO to be involved. And yet NATO is initiating a war with Russia. And also signalling that nuclear weapons are very much on the table.

We’re crazy. We are the bad Guys here.

So refreshing to wake up to pure Russian propaganda.

While we should not have a war with Russia, the premise of the headline, that the West can’t handle a war with Russia, is patently false.

Russia can’t even defeat Ukraine. And that’s with us still withholding lots of weapons systems.

NATO could wipe out the Russian army in Ukraine. Which is exactly why Russia sabre rattles every day to scare off NATO.

all-out war with (name-the-enemy)

If it was all-out war, the goal would be to win-
There is no winning here.

This is more just endless war, which will continue the transfer of public treasury monies to private hands.

As always, Follow The Money-

NATO can’t muster a decent dump without the US leading the way and there is NO WAY our sons and daughters should spill on drop of blood for Z and his fascist pukes.

Except that NATO has NEVER threatened to attack Russia unprovoked.

And as for nuclear weapons, Russia has been threatening them since before they invaded.

I guess this attack on Russia and WW3 is like global warming, it isn’t happening but we keep being told it is happening.

Just wondering, is it that we can’t find Russia on the map? Because it’s right there if we want to attack it why don’t we?

And wait, Russia is so frigging stupid that we’re planning to attack it in WW3, but Russia commits its entire military to be chewed up in Ukraine for over a year.

Wow Putin is dumb.

Excuse me the premise of the headline was NATO can’t handle Russia.

Russia can’t even handle Ukraine BEFORE we give Ukraine tanks and planes.

Great! No need for us to be involved at all.

Yes it’s been a terrible disaster for a year. That’s why Putin needs 500,000 more troops and lost ground after a year.

What kind of twisted creatures are you that you cheer for a vile mass murderer like Putin.

And stupidest of all, you spend a year bragging that he’s winning when he’s getting Russia’s ass handed to him in a war that was supposed to last 3 days.

The Ukraine has lost its industrial heartland, it cannot keep the lights on, and 1/5th of the population has fled to the West. The Ukraine War is over but Pedo Biden needs it to last as long as he can for his cut of the pie.

We have no business pouring resources into that war. Our politicians are going to get millions killed and plunge the western world into complete darkness. Our politicians will absolutely not survive should this happen.

No. If they are an even match with ukraine, they are no threat to us or NATO…

they should fight fight without the world’s largest economy sending weekly billions, and without our military help.

From your description, they could whip Russia by convincing europe to help.
