An activist at a slavery reparations meeting in California blasted the $223,000 payments proposed for black residents in the state - yelling almost a quarter of a million dollars for each person is 'not enough'.

The eye-popping outburst came from Reverend Tony Pierce who voiced his dissatisfaction after California Secretary of State Dr. Shirley Weber opened up the floor to the public.

Nine task force members held the meeting in San Diego and welcomed guests for public comments to discuss California AB 3121...

...'There should be no residency requirements for California! We have to encourage our people to come back to California! What better way to encourage our people to come back to California if we have no requirements?' Pierce asked...

Marcus Champion with the Civil Justice Association of California at the time called for the 'direct cash payments, tax-exempt status, free college education, grants for homeownership, business grants, access to low to no business funding and capital.'....

Shouldn’t collect until age 65 anyway, and should collect in U.S. stocks.

How black do you have to be to collect?

I plan to identify as that

Why is it that black folks don’t / won’t tip white folks?

It's not just white servers that won't get tipped. This phenomenon of the more "melanin-enhaced" group not tipping used to be a kind of "stereotype", but I recall many black people I worked with in the service industry making that same observation and essentially confirming it.

I recall being at a restaurant with my wife several years ago and the black patrons at a table near us were complaining to the black waitress (can I use that term?) about something very innocuous and making a big deal about leaving no tip. Really embarrassing display on their part to be honest. This same server was handling our table as well and did a good job, so I made it a point to tip about 25%.

Some of the more cynical may say I did so just to further reinforce the perception, or maybe I just felt bad for the girl getting stiffed on the tip.

I have the ORIGINAL immigration documents for all 4 of my grandparents that came over from Europe before WWI. I have court documents proving myself and all my grandparents offspring have zero liability.

Do the litigants have similar documents proving they were slaves or the descendants of slaves?

In our legal system a child cannot be guilty of any crime their parents were proven to have committed.

Well, I can’t say my ancestors had no part in fighting for the Confederacy during the War Between the States. So I am all in on reparations.
One million each, no CA residency required.
But if you take the money, you can never leave CA.
The good people of CA gave it them, they should have to spend it in that state.

Appeasement doesn’t work.

NOTHING will ever be good enough to satisfy the chronically malcontended, greedy race baiters.

That's a good idea... A special credit card, good only in California. Pays double in Hollywood.. :)

Walter Williams (RIP) had about a 10 minute monologue he did on Slavery/Reparations in which he said he got down on his knees and thanked God his great-great-great grandfather had been a slow runner which resulted in Walter being born in the Greatest Nation ever devised by man.

I agree that every single person currently living in California who was a slave get a Million dollars.

Every enslaved Californian still alive; no ifs, ands, or buts.

The goal is to take all Whitey’s money, and then eliminate Whitey. With apologies to Rush, “do not doubt me.”

So, who should be exempt from paying this? In my humble opinion, any resident of California and only California who, 1) is not black and 2) is a native Californian, who’s lineage is from California and nowhere else, as this only applies to California.

In other words, any person other than someone who is black, who’s family was not an immigrant prior to the abolition of slavery who made residence in California should be financially liable for this.

Although I do not live in California, my family came to America in the 1920’s. There is no way they should be held financially liable for the slavery of others, especially since those in my family who stayed in Europe were relocated to places like Auschwitz where they perished in the greatest mass murder of all time. And with Roosevelt knowing about this for almost 10 years and didn’t lift a finger, I deserve reparations.

In addition, any interment camps in the US during WWII where Japanese prisoners of war may have perished also deserve reparations from the US Government. We can go on and on with who should be getting reparations.

Newsome and his authoritarian posse are so stupid, they should be the ones paying for it. However, I have an idea. Voluntary tax deduction. On your California state tax return, put a box for where any Californian can check it, say how much of their tax return they want to donate, and every year, that money will be split amongst the black community that meets Newsome’s requirements for reparations.

Once the cost estimate is hit, the box comes off the tax form.

I think Newsome meant repatriation, not reparation. Let that one sink in for a minute or so.

I would support reparations in the form of passport surrender
in exchange for a one-way ticket to anywhere in Africa.

Seeing as blacks as a collective group are a net drain on society, by their own logic they should be paying white people a bunch of money.
