Atlanta Police are investigating a shooting after police said a boyfriend accidentally shot his girlfriend while playing with a gun.
On Saturday, police responded to the Northside Plaza apartment complex located at 400 Markham Street after they received an anonymous call about a person shot.
Police located a woman with a gunshot wound to the chest .
During the initial investigation, police were able to access footage from a Ring camera that showed the victim and her boyfriend were out in the breeze way of the apartment complex when a gun the boyfriend was playing with went off, striking the woman in the chest.
“His immediate reaction, you can tell that it was definitely an accident,” Capt. Tom Atzert told Channel 2 Action News.
Police said this couple does not live at the complex and was there visiting a friend.
At this time the boyfriend, who has not been identified is in custody and charges are pending.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital were she died from her injuries.
Guess he should have found himself a hobby.
So what if she’s dead forever. He can use the Alec Baldwin defense — the gun shot her — and find himself a new girlfriend.
This is why they should be left in a safe. Less danger of hitting anyone when they “go off.”

When your only knowledge about firearms comes from watching movies or music videos, such things tend to happen. The reason for so many “jammed guns” which miraculously saves the lives of intended victims is that thugs do not maintain nor clean their firearms, use the wrong type of ammunition, and have no knowledge as to whether the safety switch is in the “safe” or “fire” position. Nor do they know to keep their finger off the trigger until ready to pull the trigger, and to never point their firearm at someone they do not intend to kill.
The above is also the same reasons as to why they often kill their best friend, music video producer, or their baby momma!

There should be regular aptitude tests, just as with the DMV.

One side issue that didn’t apply here is that in an apartment complex the walls and ceilings are nearly always thin enough that a round or a ricochet can go into a neighboring apartment.
