German Chancellor Olaf Scholz formally announced Wednesday that after weeks of stalling and frustrating negotiations Berlin has agreed to send two battalions of Leopard 2 A6 tanks to Ukraine.
In a statement the government said it would initially send one company of 14 tanks to Kyiv, though its aim is to send up to 88 tanks from its own stockpiles.
Scholz said, "This decision follows our well-known line of supporting Ukraine to the best of our ability. We are acting in a closely coordinated manner internationally."
Some 15 other EU nations that possess the German-made tanks in their own stocks and had increased the pressure on Berlin in recent weeks to approve re-exports to Ukraine as the war nears the 12-month mark.
"Germany will issue the appropriate transfer permits to partner countries that want to quickly deliver Leopard 2 tanks from their stocks to Ukraine," confirmed the Wednesday statement.
It is unclear when the tanks from Germany or allied nations will be in Ukraine, though the statement said training Ukrainian troops in Germany would begin "quickly."...
Defense officials have said it makes better sense to employ Ukraine with the German-made tanks as there are "thousands" of them throughout Europe and training along with maintenance is far more manageable than on the more advanced Abrams tanks.

Just wait until this war starts to spread to other areas of the world. Keep a close eye on U.S. efforts to institute a draft and mobilize our society behind a world war. The people that are at war with Russia are the same people that are at war with America. It’s going to be a real cluster.

The tanks will be just another "game changer" like the previous NATO/US game-changer weapons: howitzers, Javilins, HIMARS, etc.
All your tank losses and the game-changer/wonder weapons have really whacked the Ruskies real good.
They just took the key Donbas towns of Soladar and Bakmut (where NATO has been dug in for 8 years) -- not to mention they control 20% of Uke territory all while losing tanks 4 to 1 (your claim -- not mine).
Keep sending those game-changer/wonder weapons -- all while Zelensky the clowns and his Nazi collaborators are destroyed.

In the first gulf war, our F111 pilots were underutilized. The air bosses started using them for tank plinking. The F111’s would stay up high and get a visual or radar lock on the Iraqi tanks on the ground. Your bomb carrying aircraft, usually an f16 would lob a bomb from about 20 kilometers away. As the bomb went into descent, the F111 would paint the tank with a laser from it’s lantirn pod. Plink, a 250lb or 500lb hit on the top of a tank. That’s what happens to tanks without air superiority. The russians can hang back from the front lines and designate the tanks. probably even designate from the ground.
The end game is the destruction of the US through total economic collapse, allowing tens of millions of foreign invaders unimpeded entrance into the country while simultaneously sterilizing the country through homosexuality and genital mutilation.
Russian planes would be decimated by AA missiles, which is why they are currently not trying that tactic.
Sure, Ukrainians have been "collapsing" now for 11 months.

Russia has lost more than half of their operational tanks, while the Ukraine operates more today than they did last February 24th.
Regarding contractors doing most of the serious maintenance, you are exactly right. Been there, done that. Stayed well behind the wire. Got paid about 3 times as much as I ever made in the USAF, but I was worth it. I had trained some of the military types who were in charge of the equipment being used that I was working on.
I met many other contractors then who had a tremendous amount of institutional knowledge and were much more technically capable than any GI. Uncle Sam got his money’s worth from us.

Their American Allies gave the Soviets 13,000 tanks, 14,000 aircraft and demolished Nazi production in a massive bombing campaign, the likes of which the world has never seen, before or since.
Not only are the Americans now against them, but so are the Ukrainians, who proportionally sacrificed more than did the Russians.
