If Biden isn’t on the ticket, Harris’s pick for vice president will be key to 2024
The Hill ^ | January 21, 2023 | douglas Mackinnon

Well before classified documents were found in President Biden’s Delaware home, its garage, and the Penn Biden Center, it’s fair to say a certain number of Democrats were uncomfortable with the idea of our octogenarian president seeking reelection. Now a narrative is building that if the classified documents found at these locations aren’t the leverage needed to convince him not to run — or even to resign at some point — his age and health very well could be a reason for him to do just that by the time campaigning begins in earnest next year.

So, on the admittedly long-shot chance that Biden could indeed turn the Oval Office over to Vice President Kamala Harris, would that increase the chances for the Democratic Party to retain the White House in the 2024 election? The answer is that it likely would hinge more on who Harris chose as her running mate than on her own attributes, because of the weaknesses she has shown thus far.

Harris is not a natural born citizen.

No. Harris’ VP pick is not critical. She cannot win no matter what. A GOP male white dog catcher would beat her and win the “female” vote doing so. Harris is incompetence pesonafied.

Kamala would have to choose God as her VP to have even a slim chance at the presidency.

There could be an enormous world crisis before this election even happens, and it’s hard to say what state the country might be in after that. Of course I hope Trump can run again and win. Second choice would be de Santis.

If the situation remains more stable and “normal” than I expect, Biden is just going to appear too old to so many people even on the Democrat side of politics, that he will find little support. Harris won’t be a very popular choice either. I think the most likely Democrat candidate is Buttgiggle. Maybe Harris could be his running mate. I can’t think offhand of anyone who served as vice-president under two different presidents but I suppose it might have happened and be on offer to happen here, although I think they would lose to Trump or de Santis (assuming fraud cannot be so great as to change the inevitable result). There are no doubt a fairly large number of moderate Democrat voters who would prefer Trump to Buttgiggle for various reasons.

The question of Trump’s running mate is bound to arise. I would say Lake.

Two women or two African-Americans would get the applause of the woke crowd, but I don’t think it would work at the polls. If Kamala runs it will be as an “historic first.” Having two women or two Blacks or two people of color on the ticket dilutes that first. There’s also the risk of upstaging Kamala, and two women or two African-Americans is a card the Democrats will hold onto for later.

Schumer won’t be the pick either. He’s too “New York City” for the rest of the country, and he has all the power he wants right now. Besides the Democrats are going to carry New York anyway. The White guys in the party are all sort of Tim Kaine-ish, so it will be hard to find somebody to run with Kamala.

Kamala will be President soon.

For a week, maybe, as a caretaker President. Then she will resign or otherwise be removed from office and the VP will move into the Presidency. She will have no say on who the VP will be.

But I doubt she will ever be President. It isn't because she is too stupid. It is because she won't follow directions. The cabal will find some way to be rid of her before they get rid of Biden. Or maybe they will get rid of both in a "Tragic and Unexpected Event". They can blame it on Donald Trump and the Russians.

The replacement team will show up in the blink of an eye. And they will need all kinds of new emergency executive powers to deal with "The Crisis". Interesting times.

“if Brain Dead decides to run anyway”
Surely, you don’t believe it’s his choice, do you? He will do what he’s told, and that’s already been done...he’s done.

Not really going out on a limb here, but I think this will be another “Black Swan” event - something will happen that will blow us all away - and I don’t think in a good way.

Have you ever had to take something away from a senior suffering from dementia? Now imagine that person being a hothead president who can fire any of the people who tell him no.

Installing Newsome might seem to be a natural but Newsom may be in competion to be the new Stalin and the politburo may not be ready for that. Or they may

Obama and Valerie would have it easier with Fetterman in the Oval Office, than Newsom or anyone who can speak for themself.

Trying to think of the last time the Dem incumbent was forced out in POTUS race. LBJ, wasn’t it?

Jimmy Carter prevailed but his campaign was mortally wounded in part to a very ugly primary battle with Ted Kennedy for the 1980 nomination.

The real horror of Kamala on the ballot is trying to find someone to portray her in practice debates.
