From what I’m reading Ukraine will be getting tanks that are vastly superior to the Russian T-72’s they will be up against. Assuming that the tankers are well trained, this will tilt the battlefield toward the blue & yellow forces.

Just the other day Abrams tanks were too complicated to give to Ukraine. That doesn’t change.

I don’t think stealth technology can protect ground support aircraft from surface to air missiles, but maybe some knowledge FReeper can weigh in on whether or not it does.

The military industrial complex needs customers. You just can’t make more tanks, etc. if they don’t get blown up.

I think you’re missing the F16s that will be coming after this tank insertion flops.

Ukraine has not won yet they are simply winning.

If Ukraine were winning, NATO tanks would not be needed. Round one, unfortunately, has gone to Russia.

Russia's history is to wear down opponents, and eventually sacrifice enough of their people to win, and it appears they're prepared to do that, again.

Therefore in order to overcome that, incredible contributions will be required of NATO. Remains to be seen if NATO will remain as committed as Russia.

The McFaul report (Republican investigation of what was left behind) listed no tanks.

Not to mention the 22 weeks of training a crew needs. Unless someone else can operate them?

Also the part where it takes a massive logistics endeavor (parts, ammo, tech) to keep mech units running.

Also the part with motorpools, facilities and legions of support personel.

“The globohomos love to see white Christians killing each other off in fratricidal war.”

Were you saying that when Russia invaded Georgia?

Two hundred tanks... Maintenance, support, training, and transport. This is a massive logistic task. As well as the cost.

Good thing Russia doesn’t have any Javelin type missiles or tank killer drones.

These comments about tanks are silly from a tactical military standpoint. Made by armchair generals who don’t know the first thing about military strategy. When you control the air, these tanks will only make great target practice.

There aren’t any.
The US (and its allies) used very few tanks in Afghanistan and withdrew them all by 2020. The Afghans also had a few ex-Soviet tanks left over from the 1970s/80s but these weren’t US aid.

Left behind (or lost/worn out in the course of the war) were very large numbers of vehicles used for counterinsurgency or to motorize the Afghan forces. Humvees are the big ticket item.
