Chicago — A man who has been arrested 32 times by Chicago police since 2014 robbed and then engaged in a “firefight” with a concealed carry holder on a Green Line train during the Friday afternoon rush hour, authorities said Sunday.

“It is a pure miracle by the grace of God that no one was killed, that no innocent bystander was killed,” Judge Maryam Ahmad remarked during the bail hearing for Darius Moss, 33.

“This is just ridiculous. Ridiculous,” Ahmad continued before ordering Moss to pay a $25,000 deposit toward bail to be released before trial.

Officials said a 25-year-old bank security guard was riding the train home shortly before 5 p.m. when Moss boarded his train car and started staring at him while smoking.

The men started arguing until Moss “upped a firearm” and announced a robbery, prosecutor Christopher Cromydas said. Holding the victim at gunpoint, Moss allegedly took the man’s keys, phone, credit card, and, notably, his concealed carry license.

Thanks, though you could have included this:

Moss threatened to shoot the victim if he did not exit at the next stop, which was Cicero, according to Cromydas. After stepping off the train, the guard pulled out his own firearm on the platform, reentered the train, and launched into a “firefight” with Moss, Cromydas continued...he guard expended 18 rounds, four of which jammed, during the incident, he said. Chicago police said Moss was shot once in the leg, but the victim was not injured.

There is a different between just range time and good training.

I have had clients that have done a lot of shooting (range time).

That were not very good at hitting their target.

There are many training techniques that induce stress into the equation.

One tends to react in a situation how one was trained.

Good training better chance of a better out come.

But then it all comes down to personal responsibility.

To use the training you received.

Twice, the judge used the word, ridiculous. And what was ridiculous is that this man was still walking the streets.

There are many training techniques that induce stress into the equation.

True and I agree that will help but most don’t have the time, money or option for this type of training.

Let me guess, a Hi-Point pistol and steel cased ammo?

Since the guy was a security guard, it might have just been lack of maintenance: too much pocket lint & not enough lubrication. Who knows...

Agree. One thing I learned years ago when I was a musician- it doesn’t matter how much you practice, it’s HOW you practice.

As a trainer that caters to individual needs.

And if that type of training you need.

I can easily design a program.

That would allow one to shoot from a non stable platform.

*sigh* Of course you could. So could I. But that isn't the point. Very VERY few individuals have training needs that are that specific. Those that do are highly likely to require custom solutions, and those are typically expensive. That is great news for you! When a cop who works Chicago's L wants help you can provide it. But if you think the average Joe is calling you for train training you are using something that precludes CCW.
