A federal judge on Thursday imposed nearly $1 million in sanctions on former President Donald Trump and his lawyer for filing a since-dismissed ‘frivolous’ lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and many others, which had claimed they tried to rig the 2016 presidential election in her favor by smearing Trump.
“We are confronted with a lawsuit that should never have been filed, which was completely frivolous, both factually and legally, and which was brought in bad faith for an improper purpose,” wrote Judge John Middlebrooks in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida in his order sanctioning Trump.
The judge in his order noted that “Mr. Trump is a prolific and sophisticated litigant who is repeatedly using the courts to seek revenge on political adversaries.”
“He is the mastermind of strategic abuse of the judicial process, and he cannot be seen as a litigant blindly following the advice of a lawyer,” Middlebrooks wrote...
He called the legal pleadings filed in the case by Habba “abusive litigation tactics,” and said the original lawsuit and a later, 186-page amended complaint “were drafted to advance political narrative; not to address legal harm caused by any Defendant.”

Judge John Middlebrooks pondered the lawsuit and just wiped it with a cloth.

He was appointed by Bill Clinton. He also ruled in favor of Gore in the Bush v Gore election case.
Lawfare is only legal for Demonocrats.

This man should have recused himself from a case involving the spouse of the man who put him on the bench. But I guess it is too much to expect ethical behavior of a Clinton appointee.

Donald, not John, Middlebrooks. Either way, he’s a political hack. Any sane person knows a smear when they see one.
I see clear evidence of personal bias and ethical malfeasance in Judge John Middlingcrook's statement. Trump should sue this weasel for unethical conduct on the bench.
Can’t that decison be appealed?
This is not an impartial judge by any means.
He acts as though it is his primary mission to
“Protect The Queen” from all harm and all naysayers.
His subjective scolding is a giveaway.
Wow! I’ve never heard of in such a case in which the evidence was at least questionable, and in my opinion obvious by what has been openly disclosed by testimony in other cases, disclosures by the media, depositions, and government officials themselves.
Over the past years, people have been able to bring suit for all types of actions and I have never heard of lawyers or their clients being sanctioned in such a way.
This is an obvious case of the judiciary closing ranks and protecting Hillary.
I hope this will be overturned upon appeal.
In fairness to the Judge, the Amended Complaint filed by Trump was a complete piece of garbage. Another Kracken, JV league slubby mass of words.

Middlebrooks was actually in the middle of the River of lies legal team that went on th produce the Steele dossier. He’s a snake. He has sold his soul for 30 pieces of silver. I hope he repents, and finds G-d.
This will be reversed on appeal.
