Outgoing Gov. Larry Hogan (R-MD) said Tuesday on CNN’s “The Lead” that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) was too focused on the Republican Party base to win national office.
Hogan said, “The party has been focused on firing up the base, and they have done a terrible job at reaching swing voters in the middle.”
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is often cited by conservative Republicans as somebody they might want to see run for president. You’ve called him an important voice, one of the important voices for the party. Do you think he would be good at what you’re talking about in terms of reaching out to people in the middle?”

Duh. No sh*t. You secure the base first and then you reach out to everyone else.
Because you're not going to win a primary if you don't have the base.
Forget it Larry, you’re going nowhere as a Presidential candidate. You blew it when you decided to pass on running for the Senate… a seat you could definitely have actually won.
So says Larry Hogan, who has ZERO chance of being the GOP nominee in 2024.
Pretty sure all of “the base” know who he is and what he’s done.
Why do you, Roving, keep repeating this lie when you've already been shown it isn't true?
“When they try to act like this is something akin to the Sept. 11 attacks, that is an insult to the people who were going into those buildings,” DeSantis said. “And it’s an insult to people when you say it’s an ‘insurrection’ and then, a year later, nobody has been charged with that.” "However, referring to House Select Committee hearings, DeSantis said Democrats were “beating a dead horse” and trying to “divert attention” from inflation.""On the anniversary of the Capitol riot, DeSantis likened Jan. 6 to “Christmas” for “D.C.-New York media,” saying the incident lets news outlets create “narratives that are negative” about former President Donald Trump’s supporters. “They are going to take this and milk this for anything they could to try to be able to smear anyone who ever supported Donald Trump,” DeSantis said at a news conference.
DeSantis has said that protestors who commit violent acts, regardless of what they are protesting, should be held accountable, --a position not at all out of step with mainstream America.
If you look at my posts I have never been a fan of Trump, Did I agree with him on some things, yes but I worked for people like him and I believe he actually tried to do some good.
I am undecided on Desantis. From what I have seen he seems to be a politician.
Probably I will vote for my old friend and tennis partner Dan Quayle, at least he is not going to lie about how he thinks things should be.
It’s always a good idea to take the advice of losers.
George H.W. Bush carried Maryland by about 3% against Michael Dukakis, but he's the last Republican to have done so. Today, Maryland is one of the "bluest" states in the Union, in national elections, that is.
As if good old Lar is a Republican
Gov. DeSantis said that those who were violent rioters deserved punishment, not that anyone who was there did.
“Hogan: DeSantis Too ‘Focused on the Base’ to Win Outside of Florida”
and Larry Hogan is a P.o.S., so there ...
This is an incompetent assessement.
‘Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order, allowing the Florida National Guard to aid in the prevention of the increasing number of migrant refugees in the state.’
Given that DeSantis won his election 59 to 40, I believe he did just that. And he didn't do it by appeasement, he did it by good, conservative government that appealed to parents with children vulnerable to groomers.
"Gelatinous turd in a punchbowl, outgoing gov larry
"bulk" hogan (rino-MD) said Tuesday on CNN’s.."
As far as I needed to read.
I can’t stand Hogan, but there could be some truth to this.
I can tell you, living in Florida and watching Desantis for several years now, even going back to his nightly defenses of Trump on TV before he was Governor, he is extremely conservative, or at least he presents himself, and governs that way.
He is far to the right of most any Republicans you can name. He’s over in Matt Gaetz territory, literally.
It’s worked great here, so far. What he’s done has been amazing, and that’s not hyperbole. And I would love for ANYONE that conservative to be President. But, being real about it, it won’t be easy. America has been sliding left, for decades now.
But maybe, enough realize we need a wakeup punch that someone like him could get elected. But he has more in common with a Southern firebrand preacher, than he does with most “Republicans” across the country. That’s the point Hogan is trying to make, which is correct, but hopefully it won’t matter.
Florida is now a conservative state. Remember when it was purple?
Just go away. Larry HogMan.
Hogan is so wrong. He has no influence outside of a small portion of Maryland . Wonder what he thinks his future is?
Who???
