Many new streets and monuments have been erected since a new government took over in 2014
This list is part of an ongoing investigative project the Forward first published in January 2021 documenting hundreds of monuments around the world to people involved in the Holocaust. We are continuing to update each country’s list; if you know of any not included here, or of statues that have been removed or streets renamed, please email editorial@forward.com, subject line: Nazi monument project.
Note: In the years since the Maidan uprising brought a new government to Ukraine in 2014, numerous monuments to Nazi collaborators and Holocaust perpetrators have been erected, at times as frequently as a new one each week. …..
the country has been institutionalizing worship of the paramilitary Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, which collaborated with the Nazis and aided in the slaughter of Jews, and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), which massacred thousands of Jews and 70,000-100,000 Poles. A major figure venerated in today’s Ukraine is Stepan Bandera (1909–1959), the Nazi collaborator who led a faction of OUN (called OUN-B); above are his statues in L’viv (left) and Ivano-Frankivsk (right). Many thanks to Per Anders Rudling, Tarik Cyril Amar and Jared McBride for their guidance on Ukrainian collaborators.……..
“I hope they are using lube on their hands, otherwise they will get chaffed.”
Putin promised them a years supply of baby oil and an autographed picture of him riding the horse.
Those 2 sure looked like the Nazi to me…/sarc.
Whoa, whoa whoa! Stop injecting the truth into the narrative.
“You’re still wrong.”
He always is.
A few days ago Russian occupiers removed a public statue of a 19th century Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko from a Ukrainian city. I suppose he’s a 19th century “nazi”? Of Couse not. Russia’s campaign of mass murder and destruction in Ukraine has never been about “nazism.” It’s always been about wiping Ukraine off the face of the earth, stealing its wealth and magically making Ukrainians into Russians.
Ok
Nazi invasion of Eastern Europe was Russias fault
It’s incredible how you guys project anything you need to
Beyond comprehension
It’s incredible how you guys project anything you need to
German General Guderian and Soviet General Krivoshein celebrating "liberating" Poland from the Polish, German-Soviet Victory Parade in Brest-Litovsk, Poland 1939
German motorcyclists giving a way to rolling Soviet tanks
"Victory Arches" with swastikas and red stars

“You assert Putin outlaws nazism, whereas Ukraine has not. America doesn’t outlaw nazis, communists, or whatever you are.”
So how many countries INVITE Nazis into their government? I’ll answer, even though this has been explained to you guys before, the answer is ONE COUNTRY?
And so what country may that be: Answer (again) is UKRAINE.
Get back to me when Azov is OUTLAWED and their leaders are JAILED, as is done in Russia.
“I posted about 14 links and you mentioned 8 of them.”
As I explained earlier here, I didn’t deny Nazism was a problem in the 1990s, when Western governments were actively involved in trying to dismember Russia (as opposed to only dreaming about it today). So, it makes sense to start about 20 years ago, when Russia got its independence back.
Good post.
Most Americans are completely unaware of this history.
The problem is our education system is controlled by leftists who spin everything to make Communism look as good as possible.
They completely ignore that the Soviets were an aggressor state. Ribbentrop was hanged after the war for deliberately planning a war of aggression, but the Soviets were just as guilty.
“ The monuments make sense to me considering the Germans that invaded were supposed to be liberators from the Soviets who had decimated the population.”
Well that clears things up! The Nazis inn Poland and Ukraine were actually intent on liberation. What a bum rap the SS and German army is getting. Lol
Liberation was 0% of the Nazi mission in the east. Hitler himself said so in his book… it was living space for a German master race. It wasn’t to rescue Slavs.
But humorous Reich apologetics there.
Get back to me when communism is OUTLAWED in Russia and their leaders are JAILED
“...I didn’t deny Nazism was a problem in the 1990s...”
Bob, the problem with what you’re saying is that neo-nazism is STILL a problem in Russia.

That isn’t what I said - nor is it the actual facts.
Liberation was certainly not the German mission, but that didn’t preclude the Ukrainians from having that initial impression. They had suffered from Lenin and Stalin killing I think 20 million in the 20’s and 30’s. Himmler’s Einsatzgruppen killing soviet bureaucrats and Jews seemed OK, until they went after civilians in general and shipped harvests back to Germany. Even Goebbels objected to what the Nazi’s came up with for civil administration. Ukrainians were part of the intense guerrilla effort to fight the Germans.
So why did the Ukrainians kill so many Poles during the war?
Stalin’s army killed Poles.
So did Bandera’s Army.
