Nazi collaborator monuments in Ukraine
Forward ^ | 27 Jan 21 | Lev Golkin

Posted on 01/15/2023 11:42:19 AM PST by delta7

Many new streets and monuments have been erected since a new government took over in 2014

This list is part of an ongoing investigative project the Forward first published in January 2021 documenting hundreds of monuments around the world to people involved in the Holocaust. We are continuing to update each country’s list; if you know of any not included here, or of statues that have been removed or streets renamed, please email editorial@forward.com, subject line: Nazi monument project.

Note: In the years since the Maidan uprising brought a new government to Ukraine in 2014, numerous monuments to Nazi collaborators and Holocaust perpetrators have been erected, at times as frequently as a new one each week. …..

the country has been institutionalizing worship of the paramilitary Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, which collaborated with the Nazis and aided in the slaughter of Jews, and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), which massacred thousands of Jews and 70,000-100,000 Poles. A major figure venerated in today’s Ukraine is Stepan Bandera (1909–1959), the Nazi collaborator who led a faction of OUN (called OUN-B); above are his statues in L’viv (left) and Ivano-Frankivsk (right). Many thanks to Per Anders Rudling, Tarik Cyril Amar and Jared McBride for their guidance on Ukrainian collaborators.……..

The monuments make sense to me considering the Germans that invaded were supposed to be liberators from the Soviets who had decimated the population. Himler’s Einsatzgruppen went after the communist bureaucrats as well as the Jews. But it does seem they could put things into a better perspective after 70 years.

False. The Azov organization (formerly Azov Batallion) did have a heavy Neo-Nazi beginning - yet today’s Azov has multiple nationalities... and yes, even Jewish members. When the Batallion was nationalized (under the previous president) - a major goal was to not only bring the group under the national wing, but to eradicate the neo-nazi component...

But thanks for being stuck in the past so you can continue to promote Russian propaganda.

Many of those Stalin sent to carry out his policies in Ukraine that resulted in the Holodomor were Jewish, so Ukrainians didn’t just hate the Soviets, they also began blaming Jews which ultimately resulted in the slaughter at Babi Yar a few years later. So there has always been a certain degree of Ukrainian anti-Semitism brewing just under the surface.

Seriously? No serious critique comes from you, stick with the Propaganda, it’s what you do.

Still waiting for your example of "Uke Nazi Atrocities within the year" or are you posting complete pro-russian BS as usual?

Once again I’ll point out the truth that the people constantly making these silly Nazi accusations don’t want you to know.

Take Stepan Bandera, for instance. He was a prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp. His two brothers died in Nazi camps. He looked at the Nazis as allies against communist U.S.S.R. Think of how terrible the Soviets had to be for Bandera to look at the Nazis as potential allies even AFTER they imprisoned him in a concentration camp. To sum up his harrowing experiences of trying to free his country while fighting both the Nazis and communists (which happened; he fought both) as being a Nazi collaborator is such a false reductionism of actual history as to be little more than a lie.

Bandera was an opportunist who only wanted to free his country and was willing to ally himself with anyone and everyone who could be of use to that cause - including the United States in the last years of his life before he was assassinated at the order of the KGB in West Germany in 1959.

If the U.S.S.R. occupied the U.S.A. in 1939, we would have allied ourselves with Nazi Germany too. Don’t doubt it for a second. After all we allied ourselves with the U.S.S. R. against the Nazis.

Yep, and at this point they’re meant to send ONE MESSAGE - which is that Russians must leave, or they’ll be driven out.

You know, ETHNIC CLEANSING, and it would be a crime if the Neocons weren’t the ones doing it.

I know facts like media veracity are unimportant to you guys but I’ll waste my time and point out

Germany invaded Poland 9-1-1939

Pretty much the start of Eastern European domination

The German rejection of the Ribbentrop pact of non aggression with Russia was not until 6-22-1941

By that time Germany owned much of Eastern Europe outside the Soviet boundaries

Can’t blame Russia for that

nazis are known by their actions, and the russian invaders are clearly being nazis in Ukraine, with robbery, rape, torture and executions of civilians.

Seems hell keeps returning to the same place

He'll has passed through it so many times - the WWI Bukovina front passed through there three times. Part of the ideology, as I understand it, is that there has been so much atrocity committed by foereigners whether it is Russians, Poles, Germans or whatever other country marched through raping and pillaging, that atrocious acts against anyone not "Ukranian" is wholly justified. This virulent hatred makes sense from an evolutionay biology point of view.

Volhynia massacres happened not that long ago. My blood can boil a bit if I argue whether it was the Civil War or the War Between the States. Stir things up in Galicia and Volhynia, as US policy has been, and nothing good comes from it.

I see you’re STILL unable to find any references to “Russian Nazis” from BEFORE the war, which was before the media needed to invent them.

I wonder if there Uke cheerleaders are for slavery reparations? After all, if Soviet crimes of 80 or 100 years ago like Dzerzhinsky justify ethnic cleansing today, slavery and Jim Crow should be worth a few bucks LOL!

Little doubt, Poland has coveted Volhynia for some time and Galicia, notwithstanding Galicia’s time under Austrian rule. I have read an interesting discussion that the best result at the end of the conflict is the establishment of an autonomous zone including Galicia, Volhynia and Bukovina, which will be indepent from Kiev, free of Ukranian war debts and out of the reach of Blackrock.

Russia owes a lot to Ukraine and the baltics. But would be (and is being) better paid by blood than cash.

“Germany invaded Poland 9-1-1939 Can’t blame Russia for that”

The German invasion of Poland was *because* of the hidden addendum to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. The war began as a Russo-German alliance to divide up Eastern Europe.
