Make the yellowbellied, RAT politicians come and take ‘em. No use forcing law enforcement people to sacrifice their futures for RAT politics.

A young municipal police officer I know very well was advised by his supervisor to arrest a vagrant. However, he could not cite a law or town ordnance that the vagrant was violating.

Since it was ultimately his call, as the beat officer, he declined to arrest the vagrant.

He told me later that he swore to uphold and defend the Constitution, even if he had to defend it from the people he works for.

Yes Pritzker it’s political theatre what YOU are doing by signing an unconstitutional law. It’s Opposite Day in Illinois! What part of SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED is so hard to understand?

All that time and money wasted just to have it overturned in the courts

Last count I saw was closer to 90. There are three counties that say they'll actively enforce it: Cook (Chicago & surrounding suburbs), Lake and Champaign. Champaign's a college town and the county of the state Capital.

Lake county is a surprise (to me) it's typically a Red County, though it's trended purple in the last few years.

There about 7-8 counties that haven't issued statements at all, most in rural farming areas so they may just be 'flying under the radar' and choosing not to enforce it.

The remaining counties have all said they either won't support it at all, or support the 2nd Amendment.

As for me being a resident of HELLINOIS, I will not comply.

Especially knowing the state of records at the ATF, the fact they're not easily searchable, many lost records due to document damage/water damage, and that only approximately 1,000 record requests a day can be serviced.

Further, the State of HELLINOIS can't even find the 'resources' to get guns out of the hands of convicted felons in this state, who in their right mind thinks they'll have enough resources to come after every legal gun owner?

They can't. Anyone who "certifies" (that's the language in the bill, it's GUN REGISTRATION by any other name) their weapons with the state is an IDIOT.

When this "law" is found to be un-Constitutional as I fully expect it will be based on the lawyers for the gun club I'm a member of filing suitagainst it, only a FOOL would believe the State of HELLINOIS would delete the data they collected from all the IDIOTS who registered their weapon.

HELLINOIS RESIDENTS: DO NOT COMPLY!!

102 counties in Illinois

At least 80 Sheriffs wont comply.

Illinois, like many other states, isn’t as Blue as it’s made out to be.

Get rid of Chicago and is as Red as it can get.

Assault weapons in Illinois have 2 legs and are named Jamal or Tyrone or Jose. Their population is concentrated in a few areas; the west side of Chicago, Aurora, Rockford, and the Illinois suburbs of St. Louis.

The other distinguishing characteristic is that usually they cannot name their father or pick him out of a lineup.

A concern that I have is that Pritzker will certainly engage in Court Shopping and the Judges will use those appeals by crafting the Wording of those Decisions to increase the power of the Courts beyond what the Constitution is designed to allow.

Similar to the SCOTUS Marbury v Madison decision notably increased Court power in the US.

Governor J.B. Pritzker reminded the sheriffs that they took an oath to uphold the law.

Not unconstitutional laws - which are to be rejected as null and void.

——lawful gun owners ——

That phrase begs the question. Who is a lawful gun owner?

How can the government differentiate between a gun owner and a gun possessor?

The governor should listen to his own advice. Stop signing unconstitutional legislation.

"..Governor J.B. Pritzker reminded the sheriffs that they took an oath to uphold the law..."

Yeah. And didn't Prickster take an oath to defend the constitution when he took office?

It looks like a wise decision on the part of the sheriffs. The Supreme Court will stop the ban.

This is good so far as the sheriffs go, but what about the State Police and municipal police departments, which latter probably have jurisdiction over, what, 95% of the IL population?
