Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Vadym Skibitskyi said that around January 15 conscription would begin and that it would take Russian forces around two months to organize its formations.
The Kremlin will mobilize up to 500,000 Russians for a spring offensive, Ukrainian Defense Ministry representatives predicted on Friday.
Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Vadym Skibitskyi told The Guardian that it was expected that around January 15 conscription would begin and that it would take Russian forces around two months to organize its formations.
While Skibitskyi said the mobilization could include 300,000 on the lower end, both he and Ukrainian intelligence representative Andriy Chernyak said that up to 500,000 people could be mobilized.
Chernyak told T-online that such a large mobilization would mean that this round of conscription would impact large Russian cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The Ukrainian National Resistance Center said on Friday that people in the disputed Donetsk region would also be mobilized and that the restrictions on conscripting civil servants would be removed.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, around 300,000 people were mobilized following Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement "partial mobilization" in late September.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that a major "aggression" was planned for the coming months, and his office head Andriy Yermak met with US representatives on Friday that emphasized Russia's "concentrating groups for offensive actions."...

I’m just sayin ...
Total BS. I mean, what for? “ukraine” is a dead state now.
No hay problema. Ukraine has mobilized a million. ;-)
500,000. Spring offensive.
I assume they have not been called up yet. It will take a couple of weeks to get them to training. Next is 4-6 weeks of training on how to be a soldier. A month to six weeks of how to be a specialist (infantry or armor). Out of training by the end of April. But no extensive training on how to be a cohesive unit. So if one wants a May attack, it is possible to get a large number of minimally qualified troops in four months, providing the training facilities are available and in good repair. If you shorten the training you can get them sooner but they will probably be far less capable and consequently die faster that way.
On the other hand, you may not care about the casualties.
they will roll in winter
sounds like a good reason for anyone in Russia with skills or a future to make a run for the border
before they get fed into the Donbas meatgrinder
Do they even have that many weapons?
What are the odds on the continued life span of Pootie-Poot?
Anybody asked W of late?
Drowning opponents in Russian blood is the traditional Russian approach to war. I am skeptical that modern Russians will submit to being slaughtered in the requisite numbers, but if they do Ukraine's long term prospects are dim.
I would give him two years at the most. The strain must be killing him.
Another commie/fascist horde delivered to rot in the spring.
Great! More fertilizer !
Make pet food out of dead Russians
Or as Whoopie would say, "It's not a 'war' war."
A "Special Military Operation" - Like calling a full frontal lobotomy a "limited surgical intercession."
Regards,
Now there's a couple of reputable sources.
Even in the exigencies of World War II, beginning in September of 1940, it took the US four years to turn a flow of raw draftees into an effective fighting force that could take on Nazi Germany directly on the European plain in the middle of 1944. Today's Russia is a far less organized and coherent society and is incapable of properly training, equipping, and leading half a million troops in just a few months.
Simply put, the putative Russian plans are delusional and a recipe for massive casualties.
Yah,
Dont they know that Putards said the 500K offensive was to start in WINTER, and McGregor said no later than December 19th?
Add two other factors to your list:
1. Tanks/APCs lost in 2022...massive. So these new guys won’t have armor in their favor.
2. A lot of the Russian artillery has been used up/captured/lost....that also will not be in their favor.
Notice.the weasel words, “up to.”
So maybe less.
