A federal agency says a ban on gas stoves is on the table amid rising concern about harmful indoor air pollutants emitted by the appliances.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission plans to take action to address the pollution, which can cause health and respiratory problems.
“This is a hidden hazard,” Richard Trumka Jr., an agency commissioner, said in an interview. “Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.”
Natural gas stoves, which are used in about 40% of homes in the U.S., emit air pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and fine particulate matter at levels the EPA and World Health Organization have said are unsafe and linked to respiratory illness, cardiovascular problems, cancer, and other health conditions, according to reports by groups such as the Institute for Policy Integrity and the American Chemical Society. Consumer Reports, in October, urged consumers planning to buy a new range to consider going electric after tests conducted by the group found high levels of nitrogen oxide gases from gas stoves.
New peer-reviewed research published last month in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health found that more than 12% of current childhood asthma cases in the U.S. can be attributed to gas stove use.
“There is about 50 years of health studies showing that gas stoves are bad for our health, and the strongest evidence is on children and children’s asthma,” said Brady Seals, a manager in the carbon-free buildings program at the nonprofit clean energy group RMI and a co-author of the study. “By having a gas connection, we are polluting the insides of our homes.”
The Bethesda, Maryland-based Consumer Product Safety Commission, which has a staff of roughly 500, plans to open public comment on hazards posed by gas stoves

I wonder how they could even create a study that would be conclusive. You would need a control group. How would they actually know which houses have gas stoves and which don’t. Then you’d have to eliminate all the other factors, like what you mentioned. I don’t think they could have a study that would even be close to conclusive.

Odorants added to natural gas aren’t mentioned ANYwhere in any of the articles I’ve seen.
Of course, government tells us they’re at such low concentrations they’re SAFE. Sure. Safe and effective, ignore any possible sensitivities, side effects - where have we heard that before?
Mercaptans and other sulfur compounds added to natural gas so we (most of us anyway, some still can’t detect the odors) can smell it have KNOWN respiratory side effects, neurological ones (migraines) and more.
This reminds me of the prohibition era denatured alcohol scam the government has run for 100 years now, telling us about the deaths and disability caused by bathtub gin” when in reality, people drinking ethyl alcohol with methyl alcohol added in to “denature” it caused thousands of deaths and as many cases of blindness and chronic kidney disease.
But yeah, trust government to make the best decisions for us - for our safety (Für Unsere Sicherheit).
The new ovens and ranges have no pilot lights. There is nothing coming from a gas stove/range when it is off.
Bet this is more crap from the conniving government that will raise prices and take more money from citizens.

A kakistocracy is a government run by the worst, least qualified, or most unscrupulous citizens.
It may be a link to asthma for poor people or renters who have really old or really cheap stoves, especially those that still have pilot lights under the burner range cover.
So they ban them entirely instead of a government program to help the poor families who have someone with asthma to replace their stove.

I am sure that other will cite this recent 'new study' as a 'bona fide' information source, but I don't believe the timing or the credentials of the source.

The globalists have declared war on petroleum products, coal and natural gas. They have added a second orchestrated crisis that can only be solved by what they wanted (banning use of natural gas and LNG for cooking) when they invented the crisis. The bans on fertilizer are a third orchestrated crisis attack on natural gas which is used for fertilizer production. It is becoming clear that these three orchestrated crises have the goals of control over the means of production (through energy control) and implementing population reduction (through planned famines).
