A six-year-old child used his mother's legally purchased handgun to shoot his teacher at a US school, police say.
In a news conference on Monday, police in Virginia said the child brought the pistol to school in his backpack.

Lowanda Sample-Rusk told the New York Times: "She said, 'Call 911, I've been shot' And then she fainted."

Because the teacher was abusing him.
He didn’t go after students he went after the teacher.
I know I missed your sarc tag
The family is already building the narrative the teacher was trying to take the gun..now the poor chil’ is just very very sads cause he really really loved her anc never meant to shoot, boo hoooo….
Yada yada yada
Nothing will happen
Mother may get cite for not securing gun
The idea is to prepare them for their future, and get them acclimated to spending time locked up. Incarceration is in all their futures, so might as well get them adjusted to it early.
They’re trying to keep mom out of jail.

😂👍
I can’t imagine a 6 yo wanting to shoot a teacher.
The realization is stunning and wow what does it say about parenting.
We man truly be lost
It could well be that the little fellow is being raised to believe that shooting people is a legitimate response to have in non-life-threatening situations. Kids are pretty honest when they are that young and they tend to pick up and accept their parents beliefs without question, and they act on them to gain brownie points. Whoever he is, this isn’t on him because he’s only 6. This is on the parents.
I am a firm believer in capital punishment. Not just for murder but also for forcible rape and kidnapping.
But you aren’t going to convince me that any six year old has the maturity to understand murder and death sufficiently to be held totally liable for this crime.
The cognitive development is simply not there.
Thank God my teachers were kind, dedicated educators. And that includes Sister Mary Estelle, my eight grade teacher.
There is zero indication that this teacher was trying to transition this child. So, yeah you can make your statement, but I doubt it will bear fruit as being what transpired.
He’s 6, he’s modeling his parents behavior at this point. The kid is redeemable, but something needs to be done about anyone around him who is casually pointing guns at other people in non-life-threatening situations.
I know nothing about the child or the teacher and am not implying anything in this case.
There are so 6 year olds that have been exposed to way too much sex, violence and drugs that would amaze you at how they can act. The become little animals very early.
“We were doing maths… An announcer came on, she was like: ‘Lockdown, I repeat lockdown,’” she told CNN.
Did she really say maths and not math?
Or is this BBC writing English usage.
I don’t know if the teacher was abusing the child, but there was an earlier story that she was reprimanding the kid for behavior.
It’s hard to rationalize what goes on in a 6 year old’s mind but you may have a point. Something happened that caused the kid to bring the gun to school. He may have felt abused or ridiculed or humiliated but it may not have risen to the level that you or I would consider abuse - but which a six year old would find intolerable.
never answer to the folly of a fool.....
