It appears you are thinking linearly as in checkers; while what occurred behind the scenes was chess.
There was little doubt KM would win the Speakership position; Trump's role in the issue was an essential influencer who wished to stake out a position that would be comfortable with KM in the future.
Trump knew full well there would be an attempt to cure KM of his Rino inclinations and it is absurd to think he would have objected to such efforts.
Now, of course, if you are trying to cast a shadow on Trump...

As I understand it, Nancy Mace’s S.C. District 1 has been challenged in court as an illegally drawn district. The NAACP and one person say district 1 is only 17% black. So Nancy Mace, who would like to keep her seat is playing both sides. She would like to retain the support of S.C. Senator Lindsey Graham who voted with Chuck Schumer, Every Democrat Senator, Mitch McConnell and several other Republican Senators to pass the disastrous Omnibus bill before Christmas 2022.
Politics is an ugly business.

McCarthy was always going to win. Trump’s endorsements are mostly just rubber stamps to make his record look good. He only really takes an interest in a few races and will sometimes endorse a long shot.
I think it is the operating strategy for most people in politics. Endorsements are usually a low effort and low stakes means to build political capital by choosing the shoe-in most of the time.
She votes for/against legislation, and he votes for/against legislation. Neither has to eat dinner with the other. She should just shut her mouth and get about reigning in the left.
Keep this in mind; the is a lawsuit to force South Carolina to redo its district lines. That makes talk like this very dangerous for this quisling.
