My leftist neighbors traveled to Moslem countries about 50 years ago.
The Moslems were not always welcoming.
I have lived part time in Sweden since 1999.
Things have really turned in the past 24 years. When I first arrived, it was mainly Swedish people that you would see on the streets; foreigners were mainly Muslims that worked in 7-11s, bodegas, and small coffee shops.
By 9/11, the Muslim population had jumped a huge number and the new immigrants were militant and unwilling to try to blend in. And they had taken over Malmo and were working on Gothenburg (my home) and Stockholm downtowns.
By 2005, the Muslim population had grown so much that they would congregate by the 100s in downtown areas, especially afternoons and weekend evenings, harassing any and all women that would cross their paths.
By 2010, black Muslims from Middle Africa started coming in in great numbers. Culturally, they would not assimilate and choose to not work in traditional environments but live off social welfare, sell counterfeit products on street corners everywhere and take over public street parking by extorting drivers to pay them on top of public parking fees.
Now, Swedes often feel like foreigners in their own country. They can see the loss of Swedish culture and quality of life. And they are getting tired of it.
Unfortunately, except for the north and the very rural areas, the battle has already been lost.
Ask any of the small towns that have suddenly had a bunch of city people arrive.
Yes, they bring money and jobs.... BUT.... they have no real roots in the community and they want to change things. Perhaps some things need to be changed. But the community has held together because of shared values, tradition and lore. So you have to be careful of what you change and how.
And this conflict happens with people who are more or less from the same ethnic background, religion and language.
With people who are so different then you are going to have even more push back.
And with still more flooding in you are going to have a revolt from the locals.
Problem is, if crime is up, and one minority group is constantly attached to the crime, people are gonna become “racist” against that minority. I’m seeing it increase in the US because of all the videos we see of black people looting, robbing, killing, etc.
When one watches a lot of cop videos and sees stolen car after stolen car, stopped by the police after a chase, and a bunch of black men jump out and run away, or large fights in McDonalds and they are all black people, or large groups “smash and grabbing” at retail outlets, and they are all black, well, it’s hard to stay “neutral” on your sensibilities regarding race.
Multiculturalism is good for the planet. It’s bad for a country.
Life was so boring in Sweden with everyone being lilly white, blond, law abiding, responsible, conscientious...
Now they’re enjoying the rich and vibrant society that diversity and multiculturalism provide.
Well. Obviously their only choice is to murder, burn, loot, sell drugs, assault women, and destroy the nation that brought them in.
Because. Racists.
From one of the safest countries in Europe to one of the most dangerous in one generation. Go Sweden!
