Bryan Griffin, Press Secretary for Gov. Ron DeSantis, announced on Wednesday that all State University System members are required to report expenditures and resources utilized for campus activities related to diversity, equity and inclusion, and critical race theory.
The memo, sent to Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz Jr. and State University System Chancellor Ray Rodrigues, outlines a document that will provide a comprehensive list of all staff, programs, and campus activities that might fall under the categorization of diversity, equity and inclusion, or critical race theory.
As part of the process, each institution must provide a description of the activity or program, faculty positions involved with such events, the total spending towards the listed occasion, and of the total amount, a specification of how much was extracted from state-provided funding.
“Governor Ron DeSantis has prioritized a cost-effective higher education system that delivers high quality service to Floridians to best prepare them for employment,” reads the posted memo. “To that effect, this letter is a request for information from the Department of Education and the State University System regarding the expenditure of state resources on programs and initiatives related to diversity, equity and inclusion, and critical race theory within our schools.”
The memo does not outline how the reported expenditures will shape future budget allocations for individual universities, though it can be anticipated that steps will be taken to decrease funding levels from institutions that use a relatively high rate of state funding to subsidize such programs.
State institutions are mandated to submit necessary documentation by Jan. 13.

DeSantis continues the battle.
Smart, don’t forget all the salaries associated with this.
Defund the universities for the amount they are spending on this crap.
“Florida is where Woke goes to die.”
Love our gov.
As they should. Race is not a battering ram although that is how it is used.
I’m sorry, the data was accidentally erased.
DeSantis also needs to put an end to useless degrees like gender studies and the many other degrees that lead only to unemployment. Journalism should also be ended since journalism is already dead anyway with no sign of it returning.

Doubt that he can do much more, but they’ll, of course, repackage DEI under another name.
As I’ve said multiple times, treating the rot with bleach is better than nothing, but one really has to CUT IT OUT - in this case, FIRE the people doing this crap. And to do that, means FIRING virtually everyone involved in public ‘education’. But Florida does have PLENTY of fully qualified retirees who would gladly take over, if requested.
“ Florida is where Woke goes to die.”
I had to move from Florida to Alabama for a job and I retired there. I wish Alabama would become part of Florida now. Our Gov is nothing special.
I don't know why every GOP governor isn't following DeSantis' path to winning.
It's really not that hard. "Find your objective. Come up with a strategy. Execute."
Same. I spent most of my career in Jacksonville. Then Uncle Sam moved me to Virginia. Thank God for Glenn Youngkin but he's no DeSantis (though he could be).
Now I've got three years to go for my final tour (and another relocation to that filthy, d--dam-ed, communist sh*thole California) and I was hoping to return to Jax to retire.
Unfortunately, everyone moving to the "Free State of Florida" is driving the real estate prices through the roof.
Florida used to be awesome and cheap. Now it's just awesome.
