Right-wing anti-vaxxers pushed a debunked conspiracy blaming COVID shots after NFL player Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field on Monday.
Hamlin, a 24-year-old safety for the Buffalo Bills, suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the field after a scary hit to his chest during the Monday Night Football matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Players surrounded Hamlin as he received CPR for about nine minutes before being taken off the field in an ambulance. The game was postponed and Hamlin was taken to a local hospital.
"Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in the Buffalo Bills' game versus the Cincinnati Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition," the Bills said in a statement early Tuesday.
The scary moment led to an outpouring of support and prayers for the young second-year player and an online toy drive fundraiser launched by Hamlin quickly raised more than $3 million in donations in the hours after his collapse. But some right-wing anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists used the incident to stoke a widely debunked claim that the COVID vaccine is causing young, healthy athletes to suddenly collapse.

That bit about the safety selector was residual cut/paste from some AR components I was removing from a rifle. DOH!

A responsible journalist would’ve written the above sentence thusly: Vaccine skeptics expressed their opinion on social media that covid shots could be responsible for Hamlin’s on-field collapse.
Debunked? Hardly. Just an opinion based on the fact that we’ve seen a significant increase in on-field collapses in other sports (mainly soccer) since the vax rollout.
Insufficient facts to jump to a conclusion -—
-— which is why I found it so interesting that some here and many around social media took only moments to conclusively declare in unison that this was absolutely positively commodio cardis and R on T (https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/4120485/posts#18 — **9 minutes** from event to Internet diagnosis!)
Facebook has banned the “#diedsuddenly” tag used to discuss such things. Given that every time the media and paid and unpaid agents bleat in unison in this haste and fervor, they’re suppressing a truth, they’ve only encouraged people to think it’s a vaxx effect. Good job MSM!
Conspiracy theorist anti-vaxxers blame it on safe and effective vaccines!
This kind of thing does happen. Thankfully not very often. But all of our hearts seem to have button, hit it is just right (just wrong I guess) and boom.
Chris Pronger in 1998 went through the same thing, doesn’t look like much of a hit from the puck. Just managed to push the button.

Sounds like it was the clot shot. Such a sad thing. Entirely preventable. Needless deaths.
The other does overstate the case, but yes, it is not science or any other form of being right to automatically every case of a young person experiencing life threatening cardiac event is due to the mRNA vaccines, regardless of how some such events may be due to those vaccines. To automatically assume the issue with some individual is with the vaccines is just a kneejerk reaction that cares not about evidence. That reaction fits a narrative and agreeing with that narrative is why someone chooses that reaction, without evidence. It reflects the kind of thinking - reactionary intent on pleasing a narrative - that we are alwaus accusing the Left of.
The fact that this comes from the source it does just confirms more than likely I’m correct in what I suspect.
In a sane world, you'd think people would want to look into it. You would think they would want to find out what is true?
RFK Jr: Pfizer Knew Their C19 Injections Caused Heart Attacks
“after a scary hit to his chest”
Seeing as people have been playing football for over a century, I would think cardiac arrests on the field would be pretty common if a “scary hit to the chest” could cause one.
It has?
Where's your data to support that claim?
I don't think you can produce it.
BTW, more articles being posted on FR about premature deaths is not evidence.
Well said!
What a difference a year makes. This wasn’t what Salon was saying last year...
They must have read free republic. Are we mentioned?
So what, whos to say what happened yet? The hypocrite Salon types used the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people to push a vaccine that wasn’t even a vaccine are cool tho right? That despite Salons insistence that death from vaccines are conspiracies, its happening at an alarming rate. Any leftist that wants to spend 5 minutes seeing the evidence of it can do so... but they wont...because theyre guilty of doing exactly what they accuse other of...as usual. Pure comedy
Video of hit.. nothing extraordinary for the NFL.

I agree.....
Last night there were quite a few comments about hits in the chest that can stop a heart. There were comparisons made to other times instances when this has happened, not necessarily on a football field. I personally know of one case where an 18 year old hockey player died almost instantly after taking a hockey puck from slapshot right in the center of his chest.
Comparisons are only truly relevant if comparing apples to apples and there have been a lot of changes made to equipment over the years. Here’s my question…. Does the equipment that an NFL player wears today protect the area over the heart better than the equipment did in years past?
Any doctor that posts this sort of info will be breaking all sorts of HIPAA rules, so I wouldn’t put a lot of stock in it.
It’s not a debunked claim.
It was a nice tackle on Higgins, who is a big wide receiver at 6’4” and 218lbs.

Probably why his tweet was pulled.
