Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will become the longest serving party leader in Senate history on Tuesday.

McConnell, 80, will remain the Republican minority leader in the 118th Congress and thus eclipse the late Sen. Mike Mansfield’s time as Democrat leader from 1961 to 1977.

McConnell overcame ten Republican “no” votes in November to remain minority leader. The votes against McConnell marked the first time McConnell had received a “no” vote as leader, a sign the GOP has begun to turn against his establishment agenda.

It’s been almost 160 years since the Civil War, we really need new leadership.

I may never vote again. The Uniparty is loaded to the gills with graft takers who vote the way their masters dictate.

Plus that way he got rid of the 17th you have to bribe the whole state house rather than just 1 senator

Who got rid of the 17th Amendment?
It’s still in effect!
I don’t understand your statement!

With no 17th Amendment, every legislator and state grandee will see themselves as senator. Due to that competition, you might not even need term limits.

No 17th Amendment and power of the position devolves back to the politics of the state house & state capital. Much closer to the people of the state and the state’s corporate needs. It’s still up to the people to watchdog the corruption but its more local. If the people don’t do that then no reform will work!
