On my radar screen
I am in a big city: Phoenix. Nonetheless, we are laid out for cars, not walking, so a 15 minute walk gets me to Walgreens and two Circle Ks. Expensive way to live on crummy food.

No need to own an automobile.
No need to travel.
Just stay in your neighborhood.
Even if you want avocado toast with egg drop soup and a bottle of peach mango hard cider to wash it all down, it's just a few minutes away from your doorstep. If you want to turn your hair blue or get a tattoo, there are salons and parlors near you.
And everyone votes Democrat, if they don’t want to be Soylent Green.
No problem with having things within walking distance, provided it is voluntary. I never understood why anyone wanted to live someplace where they would have to drive their fat ass everywhere unless it was a rural area. Living in a place that is all strip malls, fast food, and housing must be hell.
I’ve lived in both.. lemme tell ya the quality of living is much better in the latter.
Where i live there are 22 Walmarts in a 20 minute drive. Of course, I live in north west Arkansas. Walmart is a local owned business.
The stores themselves serve no other purpose than to put Chinese slave labor goods in the hands of the poor peels who have no idea that they are poor. I’m one of them.
But living on my income it is much easier and more rewarding to live in that environment.
It won’t be voluntary, and you aren’t allowed to leave your sector.
I have lived in Japan, in cities and among rice paddies. I much preferred the latter. The cities were convenient, but the population density required for “everything within 15 minutes” was too much for me.
Here in the States, there are added problems with high-density areas that the WEF pays no attention to.
I have to stress that there is a difference between rural living and living in soulless sprawl of houses/gas stations/strip malls/fast food. Former is much preferable.
Here in Prescott Taco Bell would be 30 minutes, uphill both Ways!
So all travel is by elevator?
I hear that Russia and China have these “model cities”. Perhaps they can move there.
p
North Korea also has them...
