Idaho murders: Sources tell Judge Jeanine Pirro 'genealogical DNA' helped nab suspect
FOX ^ | December 31, 2022 | Charles Creitz

Fox News co-host Judge Jeanine Pirro joins 'The Five' panelists to react to police arresting a suspect in the slayings of University of Idaho students.

The suspect arrested in connection to the murders of four Idaho college students was nabbed at least in part thanks to "genealogical DNA" evidence, sources told Fox News' Judge Jeanine Pirro.

"[M]y sources are telling me that there is genealogical DNA that was established in this case that led the police to this particular suspect," Pirro said on "The Five" Friday.

...

Pirro, who formerly served as a Republican district attorney in Westchester County, N.Y., said if Kohberger does not have a criminal record, he would not likely have gotten any hits in law enforcement's CODIS database, which would lead authorities to instead analyze blood from the crime scene for genealogy-related leads.

"And so, they find out who were the relatives. Once they figure out who the suspect is, they then start to continue to investigate, spread out from Idaho to the car to Pennsylvania. And they populate with historical data," she said.

"So CODIS can give us that 30% solving of cases. But this genealogical DNA can give us a 90% chance of solving these cases. So in addition to what will be unequivocal evidence, they're going to have all kinds of circumstantial evidence in addition to that evidence, which we will see when the affidavit is unsealed."

“An FBI surveillance team tracked him for four days before his arrest while law enforcement worked with prosecutors to develop enough probable cause to obtain a warrant, the two law enforcement sources said.”

That’s typically done after they’ve accessed these databases to identify the person. Then they pick something that doesn’t violate his rights, like his White Hyundai, use that to get the warrant, and then access those same databases (now legally) to build their case.

“unless compelled by a valid legal process.”

Why do they not simply say “warrant”? Most likely answer: They have some loophole that lets them send over the information without a warrant.

Be interesting to have them testify under oath to Congress and see what they mean by “unless compelled by a valid legal process.”.

Is this a direct result of people doing things like 23 and Me and now the government has familial DNA due to “genealogy” searches?

Yes I believe it is.

That happened to me the other day..... some extended family came home for Christmas and at some point, we ended up chatting about RVs. A few hours later, I flipped on my computer and the first site I go to has all kinds of ads for new RVs in the sidebar....

Yes. You’d be shocked at how many crimes are solved that way.

And of course the government isn’t keeping samples of your DNA from all those covid tests people sent in... Nope. Not at all.

And I don’t trust the FIB one bit. Unless I hear this suspect confess to me to my face in person I will assume the FIB has fabricated all the evidence and picked a political prisoner they want to eliminate.

YES, FIB FR monitors. I don’t trust you because you are a corrupt organization filled with lairs and crooks.

He was better before he got married.

He came to Nashville last year and it was a disappointment. Not funny. And his rant against Kyle Rittenhouse was just dumb.

I hope that this case is not built on DNA evidence - to me, it is not as reliable as people believe. There may be other evidence, more conclusive. It is all too easy for a prosecution to nail some weird, unlikeable person, often guilty of other crimes, and make it seem that they must be the killer.
