I have little doubt that you were accurately reporting the headline, and the headline writer was accurately reporting his ignorance.

I think that what may be preventing Pope Francis from taking retirement is that having two retired Popes simultaneously is absurd. It wouldn’t surprise me if he hangs it up in the next 6 months.
That said, I trust the Holy Spirit to know when it is best to call a conclave.

At the moment you die, you go through a particular judgment — and you can see your whole life flash in front of you. It’s not a damnation thing, more a “how you lived your life” thing.
The general judgment is what we all picture in our minds with those people in white robes accompanying Christ to heaven and those left behind are headed foor the netherworld.
