For pilots and those who love WWII history!!

The most important engine of the Second World War?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqqw6oSiPDw

The Rolls-Royce Merlin Engine powered some of the most famous aeroplanes of World War II, including the Spitfire, the Hurricane, the Mosquito, the Mustang and the Lancaster. The Merlin was also used in aeroplanes like the Fairey Battle and the Boulton Paul Defiant. Over its production life, over 50 different development types of the Merlin Engine were produced, ranging from just over 1,000 horsepower, to right at the end of the war, the two Merlins that powered the de Havilland Hornet giving 2,050 horsepower each. In this video, Graham Rodgers looks at what made the Merlin Engine so vital during the Second World War, and we hear from some pilots and mechanics who worked with the Merlin Engine during the war, including test pilot Captain Eric ‘Winkle’ Brown.

Just As I Am
Read: Matthew 10:1, 5–10, 16–20

Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority. Matthew 10:1

The young woman couldn’t sleep. Having suffered with a physical disability for many years, she’d be center stage at a church bazaar the next day to raise funds for higher education.  But I’m not worthy, Charlotte Elliott reasoned. Tossing and turning, she doubted her credentials, questioning every aspect of her spiritual life. Still restless the next day, she finally moved to a desk to pick up pen and paper to write down the words of the now classic hymn, “Just As I Am”:

“Just as I am, without one plea, / But that Thy blood was shed for me, / And that Thou bidst me come to Thee, / O Lamb of God, I come, I come.”

Her words, written in 1835, express how Jesus called His disciples to come and serve Him. Not because they were ready. They weren’t. But because He authorized them—just as they were. A ragtag group, his team of twelve included a tax collector, a zealot, two overly ambitious brothers (see Mark 10:35–37), and Judas Iscariot “who betrayed him” (Matthew 10:4). Still, He gave them authority to “heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons” (v. 8)—all without taking any money, luggage, extra shirt or sandals, or even a walking stick with them (vv. 9–10).

“I am sending you,” He said (v. 16), and He was enough. For each of us who say yes to Him, He still is.Patricia Raybon

What’s your current situation or status in life? What doubts have you expressed about your readiness to be used by God?

Jesus, bid me to come to You, fully dependent on Your grace and power to make a difference.

Good evening, radu...are you warming up yet? Done with the cold weather?

Still all ICE here...going out tomorrow is not very appealing. Anything needed at the office can wait til Saturday.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...are you and Tippy still pretty much housebound because of the weather?

So many weather issues all over the USA!

Hey there, Kathy.

Yes! We’re finally warming up nicely! It was upper 50s when I took Isis and Avatar to drop them off at the vet’s this afternoon. A little breezy but it still felt good.

A heck of a lot better than up your way, that’s for sure. Good idea to wait until Saturday to go to the office and I hope they have the streets in better shape by then.

Howdy, luvie.

That image is a toughie, but it happens regularly. One of many sacrifices our military families make.

I hope your day was good. It was good enough here, I reckon. A much warmer day than we’ve had and it felt nice!

Hey there, radu!

It is sad that families are separated so much when in the military. But they suck it up and do what they do for ALL of us!

It was a good day. Warm but cloudy. The only bad thing was the high wind for the first part of the day. That always makes me restless. I’m glad that it was warmer there. It must have felt so good. How long will it last? We’ll be 10 degrees cooler tomorrow, but not bad.

We had another beautifully sunny day but clouds move back in tomorrow, with slight rain chances. Chances go up Friday and even more Saturday. It was a bit windy today but not too bad. I figure it’ll get windier as the front approaches. But no cooling off. We’ll be in the 60s tomorrow into next week.

Very little...these 2 days have been brutal. We all have been hammered trying to get everything done. I’m really glad I don’t have to go into the office tomorrow to print checks. I will go in Saturday for the mail and several other weekly chores.

I figured it was going to be a really rough week. Not having to go in tomorrow to print checks takes a little of your load off at least.
I imagine your pillow will be calling your name early tonight. :-)

Well, enjoy the nice temperatures AND the rain. We have no rain in our forecast, darn it! We’ve 10 1/2 inches for the entire year. *sigh* It’s not even at our average. How depressing. LOL!

Hi Kathy, per Doctor's orders I'm just taking it easy and no overdoing it. I do feel good and my energy and stamina are slowly returning.

I saw son over Christmas and took him and Robin out for lunch on Monday.

We've had snow on the ground for the past month but during our recent warm-up it's been slowly melting, we're suppose to get hit again tomorrow.

How are things up North?
