Woubshet Dedbar’s white Tesla Model Y matched the crunchy coat of stale snow and ice covering Grand Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.
The Uber and Lyft driver had 90 miles left on his charge after running people around King and Snohomish counties all morning in freezing temperatures.
How much did the cold affect his car’s performance?
Not much, he said. On Tuesday, Dedbar made countless trips up and down I-5 and on messy, slippery residential roads. He took some people home from the airport and others on their errands. With all-season tires and a full charge, he can help those leery of driving.
The only difference he’s noticed is a loss of about 3%, or 10 miles, of his normal driving range. Dedbar is one of the thousands of Washingtonians who bought an electric car for the first time in 2022 and are now learning how the vehicles adapt to colder weather.

That’s odd, because the Tesla charging station here has been the busiest I have ever seen since the temperature dropped into the single digits. The same for the other two charging stations in town.
Nonsense the physics doesn’t back up the story
Woubshet Dedbar; That’s the name of a person?
Maybe it’s Egyptian.
My friend sent me a pic of a charging station with a backup diesel generator, funny
get it a blanket ?
I suppose that if you have a Tesla in Phoenix you're advised not to use the AC in August. Pre-cooling the car won't last long, so I suppose they will recommend shoving ice in your pants.
Estimate range loss an average of 18% at 20-30F versus 70F
Glaring propaganda. I saw comments from twitter that indicated EV’s were KO’ed early in Buffalo during the storm.

Dedbar
isn’t bright enough to understand
a reduction of range isn’t
“adapting”.
Where I lived it’s 29 Below Zero today and it’s been Below Zero every morning for two weeks. I wanna know how one of these EV’s works then. Good luck when you’re blasting the heat to keep the wife warm.
Buy an ICE car, problem solved.
Isabella Breda >> Spreading EV propaganda.
Meanwhile the tow truck that runs 24/7 has a Cummins diesel and no adaptation is needed
is the energy loss when the ev is sitting in cold weather or when it is running?
Merry Christmas to Elon Musk!

Why do I think that this report on ‘Woubshet’ will be taken to the ‘Woodshed’ based on what it is saying?
They should try a gas-powered car, you have all the heat you want and unlimited range. My friend has one and will not drive over 50 miles from home from battery anxiety.
Ok that settles it, this one anecdotal story about the so called success of an electric vehicle has changed my mind and I am now a believer. /s
