Putin says Russia will destroy US Patriot missiles in Ukraine
AFP / Insider Paper ^ | 25th Dec | AFP

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday he was “100 percent” confident that his forces would destroy the Pentagon’s most advanced air defence system that US President Joe Biden has promised to send to Ukraine.

“Of course we will destroy it, 100 percent!” Putin said, referring to the Patriot missile battery in extracts of an interview aired on Russian television.

Nah, the chinese aren’t supporting Russia militarily.

The Russians used all their advanced weaponry early in the conflict and a lot of it failed or was used once. They have lots of old school Soviet stuff that they are now reduced to using.

The S300 is an area air defense weapon. Ukraine has a whole integrated system built around @100 S300 batteries and associated radars, command systems, etc. The biggest problem with that, right now, is limited S300 ammo remaining.

The Patriot, in this case, is being used as a point defense system (granted, a largish “point”), to take over a certain area from the S300’s, as Patriot missiles are available while S300’s arent. Thats what all the western missile systems are there for. Its not likely to be well integrated to the overall air defense system, but needs must.

I doubt very much that the Russians are able to track moving convoys inside Ukraine with actionable real time position info and the reaction time to shoot missiles from hundreds of kilometers away. They havent managed it so far. If they had jets overhead on interdiction, with, say, FLIR pods, where they could find moving convoys in real time, and of course the aircraft right there to engage said convoys on sight, then they could, but the Russians cant do that. They would lose those jets to SAMs, which has been the RuAF problem all along.

“Yes you could say something about your personal contacts in or of Ukraine but you don’t”

Either way, in this forum, I couldn’t safely say what, if any, contacts I actually have, and be able to back it up.

No different than yourself and your claims.

He probably will...generally does what he says. So he’s letting them know they’re a target.

The CONOPS for the Patriot (SAM-D) as first proposed was that the ground radar would move to a random location in Germany and radiate (search) for about 30 minutes, shut down and scoot to a new site. In Gulf War I it was used as a fixed base system, it would sit and radiate indefinitely. That is how it is used today in most applications. The missile system is worthless without the radar, except perhaps as a missile absorber. In the U.S. Army TO&E there is one radar per battery.

The system is designed to counter antiradiation missiles and jamming, but the entire Russian Air Force should be able to defeat one Patriot battery. When radiating it is not quiet. They may have devised some sort of CONOPS where the Patriot takes cues from search radar, and only fires up its radar transmitter when a target can be quickly engaged.

I am inclined to believe that the Army would not send a Patriot battery out as an hors-d'œuvre for the Russian Air Force, but the Afghanistan debacle taught us that one can never underestimate the Biden Administration's incompetence.

A real game changer would be a few Patriot Battalions, supplied and manned by the Luftwaffe, and a detachment of NATO E-3 AWACS, working in concert. (They train together now, and the Russian Air Force is the Main Enemy.)

Helping a European country to defend itself from attacking Russian warmongers as they are leveling entire Ukrainian towns and villages right now doesn’t make US warmongers. It’s more like Christian decency.

When America was attacked on 911, the entire NATO helped the USA with billions in military aid and more, and EU troops. It’s normal that allies helps allies.

Concerning Americas southern border disaster, It can be handled easily with right political decisions. The Democrats for a weird reason I still can’t understand have telegraphed to the world that the borders are open for all. That’s what started the border crisis. It was perfectly stable under Trump and not even costly to keep stable!

Protecting our southern border while helping our allies defend themselves against invading imperialist forces is doable. It’s a second front, and America and the EU can handle that.

No one wants to be mean to Russia. There is just one demand : It has to stop invading our allies. Imagine if America followed Russias logic and decided to invade Cuba.. a Russian ally... rest assured that Russia would react against America right away.

Russia protects its allies. America protects its allies. Europe protects its allies.
That’s how things are.

But the weapons have changed drastically. Billions of innocent people could get annihilated of this thing escalates further, and it’s been escalating since the beginning.

Can we impeach Biden and elect Rand Paul?

Just kidding, but that’s the spirit we need right now.

I’ve backed up positions for years with specific info and photos. All BobL does is relay Moscow’s talking points/lies. Even your “about page” is more cut and paste Putin propaganda and you don’t present anything about yourself.

You nailed it. Our borders are wide open. We have no sovereignty. We are THE global catch-all for those who don’t share our culture, values or interests. When our borders are secure I’ll then worry about the borders of our ally’s.
