I accidentally watched that movie to see if it got any better as it went on. It didn’t.

"When has this ship ever NOT been on fire?"
When it's not being towed back to port?

It seems British and Russian carriers use those decks that slope up, and American carriers use catapults. Can a knowledgeable freeper explain to me why?
Different situational capabilities. Ski-ramps are basically free, while a catapult is expensive, big, and complicated. However, aircraft on a ski-ramp have to be light and therefore are smaller planes and/or aren't fully fueled or fully armed. Whereas the catapult can get the aircraft to sufficient speed to fly, and therefore they can be fully loaded.
Catapults also allow for simultaneous takeoff/landing operations, as they require much less room for takeoff. For ski-jump carriers, most aircraft require nearly the entire deck length to make it in the air, even with the ski ramp giving a slight height/AoA boost.
Overall, the ski-jump is much cheaper, technologically simple, and easy to build and maintain. Catapult systems are much more powerful, effective, and let you play with all your big toys all the time.

“There has been a little problem during repairs,” Mr Rakhmanov said. “The blaze has been put out. All fire alarms worked normally. There are no casualties or damage.”
There was a fire.
It was a little problem (not a no problem).
Yet there was no damage.
That sure doesn't make much sense.

It's a shame Trump is not fully in control only partially. He knew how to get along with almost anyone from the worst Chinese leaders, mbs, to Putin. But,he also knew to stay away from crazy like the Iranians. He just bombed the crap out of them and let them learn to fear us.
Now we have brandon who trys to buy everyone in an arena where they gladly take our money and then threaten us if they don't get more. Brilliant strategy for the destruction of the US.

What we just witnessed was Zelinsky shaking down all the politicians Ukraine has the goods on. American people kept too ignorant by the Mockingbird MEDIA to ever pit two and two together. Trump was snooping around. That’s why all hell broke loose on him.
