Not at all. I just don’t like the idea of guys who lost a vote 188-31 trying to dictate the result anyway. Frankly, it’s babyish, and I’d feel the same way if the votes had been flipped, and McCarthy was trying the same crap.

...and browbeat opposition to him including from our own side in the shape of Mark Levin.

levine is a maroon, he only supported Trump when it didn't matter.

frankly, if levine is for mccarthy, that's another reason to be against mccarthy

Maybe that is what we need.

Is she Pelosi? Is she a b****? Ruthless? Then I want her. Otherwise, no. Even McCarthy would be better than Stefinak.

Then McCarthy will have to convince them. Consider it a test on whether he can become a Speaker.

so being in the minority of a corrupt party is babyish

The list is short I agree...

It could end up being someone we have not heard of before but they tend to go for someone people know and who are in leadership so that would be Scalise or the other one Stefinak.

I dont know whether they could command 218 votes or not but I think Scalise is the most likely to get there? He is quite conservative from memory. I’m not saying he’s perfect just plausible.

What I find interesting is conservatives have always been told by the RINOs to suck it up for the good of the party. Now it’s their turn and their guy McCarthy should go for the good of the party.

Will he?

question: when was the last time mccarthy did anything for the good of the party?

Perhaps... Kevin is besmirched by the cozy relationship he kept with Paul Ryan.

Paul Ryan is a swamp creature personified.

So being in the minority of a corrupt party is babyish.

No. What's babyish is participating in an intraparty vote, losing badly, but then stamping your foot and saying you'll sabotage the winner if you don't get your way despite having lost.

If they think the party is too corrupt to support, then they shouldn't have run as Republicans at all, but rather as independents/third party.

mccarthy doesn't own the party, any more than mcconell, graham, mercowski, collins or any of the other bad rubbish

if someone doesn't stand against them it will never change

No, the ethic has been that you battle it out in the primaries, or in an intra-party caucus. Whoever wins that, conservative, moderate, etc., gets the support.

Trump got around 45% of the primary vote in 2016, but more than 90% of Republicans voted for him in the general election. Why? Because we all realize that the Republican, even if not our preferred candidate, is still going to be better than the Democrat.

But now, it appears the reverse is happening. McCarthy was the overwhelming winner of the caucus vote - it wasn't even close. But, the members of the caucus who lost that vote are now taking the Bush/Cheney approach from 2016 and 2020, and trying to sabotage the party's chosen representative.

I didn't like it when they did it, and I don't like it now.

Sorry, but FTX money doesn’t explain a 188-31 vote.

Didn’t trump endorse McCarthy? Defying trump is a death sentence, politically.
